Adopt or Foster a CARE Cat

We pay all expenses and suit the cat to you and your lifestyle. When the cat is ready for adoption, CARE volunteers will begin the process of finding the right home for "your" cat. Please call 804-288-9797 to learn more about our volunteer program.

AIN'T LOVE GRAND?  These two cats are being fostered together.  They had never met until recently but are fast buddies now.  Hopefully, each will leave foster care for a permanent residence soon.  Help us save lives by calling to volunteer to foster.  It is not hard and is so rewarding.

Carrie, who was almost dead at a local pound, was rescued by CARE and put into the fostering system.  She is devoid of fur over much of her body due to an allergy and poor diet.  She is photographed here investigating her new foster home.  Carrie is lucky.  There are many "Carries" out there who will die because there are not enough foster homes available.

This is the home of one of our beloved safehousers Thea. We need many more wonderful, unselfish, animal lovers to help us save more lives. Whether you have only a bathroom or a whole home, be it simple and plain or elegant, we would love to talk to you about fostering a cat or kitten.

Pauline is very content being fostered (temporarily) in a small bathroom. She thinks the toilet is her queen's throne. Before long, she will have a permanent home of her own in which she will BE THE QUEEN!

This kitty is happily awaiting a permanent home while in foster care. She had been hit by a car and left for dead. She is now well and "ready".

Some cats in foster care cannot be trained to be neat and tidy!  Meet Jonathan!

This cat is new to CARE. It was just picked up from a local pound and taken straight to the vet by a volunteer. She was given the name Dinah, to which she already responds (maybe). She weighed in at 7 pounds and was deemed healthy by one of our participating veterinarians Dr. Michael Zuccaro, assisted by Cynthia Settle Clark.

Pictured here is Dr. Michael Zuccaro of Brook Run Animal Clinic. He is checking out Bess before sending her off to her new foster home. Bess needed to be picked up at the local pound and transported to the clinic. CARE needs volunteers who would like to help with this activity. This must be done M-F during normal business hours.

CARE volunteers Cheryl and Craig McGruder are showing Annie Pelfrey (CARE volunteer) photos of their recent "working trip" to Rikki's Refuge. Craig, Cheryl, and Maria Tonnessen (another CARE volunteer) donated their efforts on behalf of CARE.  All plan to go again soon. The first thing they did was sort the produce for the pot bellied pigs. From there, they dug post holes.  Later, all were given a tour of the animals by a Rikki's volunteer.
