Prior to adoption, every CARE cat/kitten has received a thorough exam from a veterinarian, has tested negative for FIV/Felv (except as otherwise noted), been spayed/neutered, dewormed, given flea preventative, and been inoculated against distemper. Rabies vaccine is given if the feline is over 4 months. Any other desirable medical attention has also been provided. Also, each cat/kitten has spent its rescued time in a private home in foster care being loved and assessed for temperament and personality, needs, likes and dislikes.

When I was just 3 weeks old I was rescued from a feral colony and introduced to the good life. I took to being bottle fed and pampered immediately. I think because I was in the company of caring people at such a tender age, I am extremely social and loving. I delight in sitting on my foster mom's foot when she is the kitchen, although she says that I really am not a great deal of help. As soon as I hear her voice calling to me, I'm there beside her. While I love my foster mom so much, since I find an inviting lap such a splendid place to curl up and sleep, I have to admit that anyone's lap will do. I am very petite with gorgeous calico markings on a snow white background. I enjoy the company of other cats and I'm not at all afraid of my mom's dogs, knowing of course that they are friendly and would never harm me. I am 9 weeks old as of 7-2 and my foster mom is Janet. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797. |

There I was, out in a field all by myself although I was and still am a kitten. A vet tech spotted me and the chase was on. It took her 2 hours to corral me and at first I was not thrilled about joining polite society. I admit that I was a tad hissy initially, but then living all alone in a field without friends and family is a pretty terrifying thing. Now at about 9 weeks of age (June 23), things have changed in a major way. I charge to meet you and just purr, purr, purr. The thing that convinced me that I would be OK in this new world and that having people as friends was my sleeping with my foster family's son, Nick, the first two nights in my foster home. I just curled up right beside him in the bed, and we both loved it. He's a kind hearted and good boy and I am very tolerant of his holding me in different positions like the one for my web photo. I am a fearless girl and frisk and frolic like there's no tomorrow. In fact, it was difficult to get my photo taken as it is almost impossible for me to sit still. I am rooming with Charlotte, the calico cutie that you can also see on this page. We like each other, but we are both independent spirits and our own people. I especially adore the big cats in my foster home. To paraphrase that classic Temptations song, adopt me and you'll have sunshine on a cloudy day! Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to meet Shannon's sunny sweetheart. |

We are 3 month old kittens (June 23) who were born to a feral momma cat,
but who blessedly were rescued from that harsh and often very short life.
We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to live the pampered lives
of indoor and much loved companion kitties. Our foster mom named us after
characters in the HBO series "The Sopranos" and assigned names based a
wee bit on how each of us resembles that character. May we tell you about
ourselves now? We believe that if you meet us you will fall in love and
want to add much joy and delight to your family. All you have to do is
adopt us! For a video of the "gang" at play, please click HERE. |

I am a very petite and lovely tortie girl, barely a year old. Can you believe that at such a tender age I have already raised a family of 3 boys, one of whom (Marco Polo) is pictured here with me? I was a grand mom and still wash Marco like the baby I still think of him as being. I talked often to my babies and still make the same cute little sound that is not a traditional meow. I am just so sweet natured with the gentlest, kindest soul. I love sharing affection with my person, so a lap is one of my very favorite places. I play a little, but being a mom has taken precedence over play up until now. I think that once Marco is adopted and my nest is once again empty, my more frolicsome side will emerge. From my black ear tips to my dainty little paws, my foster mom says that I am a bewitching little kit kat. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to tell Sandy that I must be yours forever. |

We 3 sisters were rescued from a pound when we were just 5 weeks old.
We were very thin when we arrived at our foster family's home, but we
are making up for lost time and should be ready to go to our forever homes
about 3 weeks from June 20. We are a playful troupe and are flourishing
under the loving care of our foster parents and their son. Each of us
would like to tell you a bit about ourselves. |

After spending many weeks in a kill shelter and praying for rescue the whole time I was there, CARE came for me just as my time was up. As terrifying as that was for me, I came through the experience extremely well adjusted and able to maintain my kindly and genial nature. My color is pastel tortoiseshell and my fur is as soft as powdered sugar, so soft in fact that my foster mom cannot stop petting me. Well, when that happens what's a girl to do? Of course I snuggle, knead bread, and purr my little one year old head off. In spite of my cover girl good looks, I am not one to strike a pose or have a catitude. I am just a very gentle soul, good with other cats and nice children. I haven't been around dogs, but I see no reason why I could not live peacefully with a cat friendly pooch. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to make Helen's sweet muffin yours. |

There is very little in this world that I do not like, but being in a pound cage for weeks and weeks was one thing that I had no fondness for. But of course the alternative to the cage was worse and that's what I faced when my time there had run out. But before my life was taken from me, CARE arrived and whisked me away to a foster home that I very much like. I am the large economy size love package (about 2 years old), dressed in classic dark brown and black tabby attire. Being a social fellow who enjoys the company of other cats, I wish that they would all love me. I am rooming with Silky, who sometimes will give me a hiss or two for just sniffing her nose. Girls!! I am the definition of "nice guy" who will be a lifetime loyal and devoted companion. Friends may come and go, but I'll always be by your side. I have quickly acclimated to my wonderful foster home and I don't see any reason why I wouldn't do the same with my forever family. I am easy going and just anxious to settle into a home that will provide stability and TONS of love. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to meet Helen's gentle guy. |

Due to his physical infirmities my dad had to relinquish me and my buddy. He is an older gentleman and we were his family. His heart was broken and he begged the shelter not to euthanize his babies. CARE is overwhelmed by all the cats and kittens that are without homes, but they managed to fit us into their foster system even though we had to go to separate foster homes. I am a feline of superior character, with no bad habits and nothing but positive attributes. I am a very sociable and affable girl and I'm only 1 to 2 years old (as of June 19). I am fine with other cats, but you might hear a soft hiss; just me advising them not to take liberties with my good nature on first acquaintance and letting them know that I'm important too. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Helen's silken sweetheart. |

Not only am I great with other felines, I cherish people so much that I could never find a family too large for me. With such a family I could go from one person to another to another to get AND dispense loving. Death recently loomed over me in the pound, as my owner just up and abandoned me there. With the pound crowded beyond capacity and with no legal requirement for cats surrendered to be held for a certain period, I could have been killed at any moment. The nice lady working there begged CARE to take me, and several others, and they did! I am one happy fella in my foster home, let me tell you. I am such an affectionate, happy go lucky, gentle, and sweet fur baby. I also think that I am helpful, although my foster mom seems to think that my "helping" her to read the newspaper is a little bit in question. I'm about a year and a half old and my foster mom is Helen. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797. |

I had been in the kill shelter for just one week when CARE came for me. Now I am the only tiny one in my foster room, but I act just like the big cats do. I eat wet and dry food and use the big cat litter box too. I do miss having the company of other kittens, but just being out of that pound is beyond wonderful. I am a classic calico with the richest black, white, and orange hues you have ever seen. My CARE friend says that all my orange is an orange tabby trying to come out of me- and we all know how sweet orange tabbies usually are. I am very sweet too and, although tiny in size, my purr is magnificent. With my being so happy and full of life, it's not unusual to see me prancing around the room like a show horse. To summarize, I'm a charmer and will add so much love and joy to your life. I am 8 weeks old as of June 19 and Helen is my foster mom. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for Shannon's calico cutie. |

Now, I ask you, where have you ever seen a face with more purrsonality or larger and more expressive eyes? I know that a cat connoisseur will recognize right away what a feline gem I am. I was saved from death in a kill shelter and at the tender age of 1 to 2 years I am ready to embark on a long career as someone's best buddy and lover boy. I embody the traits that anyone would want in a cat pal. I get along with other animals, am extremely friendly and social, find a lap just about the best place in the world to be, and enjoy playing nicely with my toys. I love my person and getting scratches and caresses is sheer ecstasy. Throw a cute orange nose and exotic tabby stripes into the bargain, and I just don't know how you can resist making me a permanent part of your life and family. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Carolyn's fabulous feline. |

When I came into this world prematurely at the Henrico County Animal Shelter I weighed only as much as a Mrs. Fields chocolate chip cookie- 2.5 ounces. Do you have any idea how staggering the odds are that someone like me would survive in a pound? My mom was not able to feed me and so I had to be fed through a tube until I was large enough to nurse from a bottle. I am now (June 17) 13 weeks old and weigh a bounding 2 pounds 5 ounces. I am a true miracle kitten to have survived such a rocky start in life and my CARE admirers feel such a wonder deserves an equally special and loving forever home. I haven't had the opportunity to play with kittens my own age, but I get along famously with older cats, and nice dogs too. Don't you love my patch tabby markings, especially my contrasting tail? I am full of life and play and am going to make some lucky family just the absolute best of companions. After all, life is not a sprint so it's not how you start that counts, but how you finish. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask for Sandy. CeCe is my foster mom. |

Rescued from a local kill shelter, we are an exquisite collection of ultra affectionate, easy going, gentle, and dear little souls. We have such winning ways and are such charming baby cats, that we dare any kind hearted person not to fall in love with us when we meet. Sarah is a bit on the shy side, but she is a very lovable little purr machine. Andy man is very outgoing and charmingly communicative and Tony is just a plain bewitching and captivating fellow. We are just 8 weeks old as of June 15. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Janet's terrific tots. |

I have heard it said that I am the epitome of "tabbitudeness." I guess my silken short fur patterned with the most exotic tabby markings and the most gorgeous ringed tail this side of Rocky Raccoon have led folks to this conclusion. I am 2 years old now, as of June 13, and was born to a feral mom. As a kitten I moved from the wild side to life in a normal home, but my family cannot keep me now. I am healthy and possess impeccable house manners. While I am a tad shy at first with new acquaintances or situations, I adore being petted and receiving attention. I am a quiet lass and have an even temperament that enables me to get along well with other cats. I am just plain old good company and today especially who doesn't need a faithful companion? Oh, did I mention that I have the most soulful golden eyes? Dianne is my foster mom. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and you can meet me in my foster home. |

I am Marley, a lovely tortoiseshell lady 13 years young, and I have lived with Rufus since he was just a little guy. We have known but one human dad, but he has found a new wife and a new home and we are not welcome to go with him because she wants no cat fur in her new home. We cannot believe that we are being discarded like this! We so fear ending up in a pound, where we will surely perish because we are no longer young cats. We may not be young chronologically, but we are healthy and young at heart, even if those hearts are broken right now. Rufus is 11 years old and just a very sweet fellow. I relish being petted and spending time in laps. We are both declawed. We are good cats who do not deserve to be treated as disposable things. Won't you save our lives and allow us to thank you every day for the rest of our lives? Please hurry and call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to ask Helen about us. |

We are two kittens from a litter of five (Tanner is our brother) who were rescued from a local pound when we were just 3 weeks old (we're about 11 weeks as of June 13). I'm Binky and being the more extraverted sibling I will formally introduce us. I am a very handsome orange and white boy kitty with very dashing copper hued markings, especially on my dapper face. Once I settle into new surroundings I seek out my person and solicit as much attention as possible as I cherish being loved on. I am frisky and enjoy a good romp too. My sister Blossom is one exquisite beauty with very distinctive markings. She is a showcase of autumnal colors, with the clear-cut orange tabby stripes on her legs highlighting the rich hues throughout her coat. And that black sock on her front leg is so cute! She tends to be a bit of a momma's girl and she hasn't quite adjusted to the concept of being an independent lady. Although a bit shy at present, she loves her toys and spends quite a bit of time tossing and chasing whatever toy that falls prey to her antics. We are quite the pair and pray for a home where we will be prized and held dear forever. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Connie's Kids. |

There hasn't been anything this full of mirth and good feelings in black and white since Mel Brooks' classic movie, "Young Frankenstein." I'm Carter, 8 weeks old as of June 10, and my good looking co-star is my brother Cooper. We both came from a kill shelter and feel so blessed to be out of that terrifying place and comfortably ensconced in our great foster home. I'm as amiable and sociable as they come, equally at ease with gentle children and with feline friendly canines like my foster mom has. Mr. Cooper is just as genial and sweet as I am, although he tends to be a bit more reserved around new acquaintances. Our foster mom is Janet. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and you can hang with Carter and Mr. Cooper. |

My name is Bentley. Don't you think that is a very prestigious name for such a little guy, especially one who was saved from a feral life at an auto dealership body shop? My rescuer worked with me and my siblings so that we became very loving and social little characters. I am ultra sweet and affectionate, but I am a kitten so I likes me romps too. I am about 12 weeks old as of 6-10 and my foster mom is Sandy. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for a lifetime of love and affection. |

You can probably guess pretty easily how we 3 boys got our distinctive names. Our foster mom decided that 3 such intrepid explorers should be named after other famous adventurers. We pounce and bounce from one place to another and just plain enjoy life. We, and our mom, were rescued from a scary old place called a pound and we have heard that horrible things can happen to kittens in such places. We are convivial and sociable little fellows and we flock to our foster mom when she comes into the room. We are in constant motion as we romp and play, with mom's tail being an extra special attraction. Now, honestly and all false modesty aside, have you ever seen a cuter kindle of kittens? We are about 9 weeks old as of June 10. Please come take us to your heart and home. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797. Sandy is our foster mom. |

The recent months of my life have been horrible and daunting to say the least, but I have come through them unscarred. I have such a noble spirit that my foster mom says that I surely must have royal ancestry. One look at my handsome cream and dark brown bull's eye markings told her that I was special. I and two other cats were wedged into a tiny cage at a pound, hardly able to move enough to get to the food and litter box. That stress and inaccessibility of food has left me on the thin side at about two years of age, but the nourishing food and love that I am enjoying in my foster home will easily remedy that. In spite of living cheek to jowl with my cage mates I really love other cats. The life I wish for is one of an inside and pampered putty tat- no more cages or harsh weather for me! I will make a lucky someone an incredible and devoted companion as I have a marvelous affinity for laps. Just sit down and I'll be there with you! I've managed to evade some real horrors- guess you could call me Roger, the artful dodger. I am here for you, so please come take me home. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Helen's good guy. She calls me the purrfect cat! |

Hear ye, hear ye! We are Bunny's babies, 8 weeks old as of June 7, and ready to go to our forever homes. We are all sweethearts, friendly, social, always ready to prance over to our foster mom, and of course ready to play- one of our favorite toys being a full roll of toilet paper. We love to sleep as a group, either with or without our mom. We have a short cat tree and the top is where you are likely to find us sleeping. Because we are so little we clamber on to the top of a cat carrier first and that's our taking off point to launch into the top of the tree. Our photo makes the dark tortie girls, Cindy and Mindy, look like black cats in our group portrait, but they are beautiful torties. The 3 orange muffins pictured are brothers Bobby and Robbie and medium haired sister Rosie. We are eating canned and dry kitten food and have fully learned to use our large litter box. Would you consider adopting more than one of us? We are such good playmates for one another and any kitten needs feline company so as to not be lonely when our people are away. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and Helen can tell you all about us and our sweet, gentle mom, Bunny. |

I'm Clyde, a mostly white, tabby patched, and somewhat rotund sugar bear. I am just 5 years old and my absolute most favorite pastime is to be with people- I just can't stay away from them. I will trail you about the house like some dogs do, hoping for some Clyde time with my person and of course wanting to be involved with the day's activities. My litter box etiquette is perfect, but my strange stance when I potty may make you laugh. But my aim is true and I never miss. I am just the most warm hearted and devoted being under the sun and if you need such a companion to make your life complete, I'm your guy. Hi, I'm the Cisco Kid. Well, not so much a kid anymore since I am about 8 years old, but I am Cisco. I'm a genuine bob tailed kitty- I hope that you can see my little black tipped bob in my photo. It's quite possible that the great creator of all things decided, when I was given such a short tail, to balance things out by giving me a larger loving heart. I am kind, gentle natured, and low maintenance. I am just no trouble and basically consider my reason for existence to be to dole out generous portions of Cisco love. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and Sandy can tell you all about me and Clyde. Make that call and you'll be looking for love in all the right places. |

Unfair! Hurtful! Sorry, but that just had to be said and it's out of the way now. We are 4 year old brother cats who once lived in a family with an older dog and we all got along well with only the occasional spat, as happens in most families. But then a new dog entered our home and the big oaf displayed no respect for us and wanted to play roughly. We didn't take well to that and now instead of the canine terrorist being ostracized, it is us who must leave our home. So now CARE is looking for a great forever home, minus canines, for us where we will be esteemed for the fine cats that we are. We adore children and Jerry in particular will follow a youngster around the house like, if you will excuse the expression, a puppy dog. We are saddened at leaving our loved ones, but we can no longer coexist with that canine clown. Won't you take us in your arms and make everything right again? Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask for Helen to tell you all about us handsome guys. |

Hi, I'm Jeremy, the very proud papa of kittens Justin and Jamie. Anyone
seeing them would know immediately that they are my kids as they are miniature
versions of their dad. I am between 1 and 1 ½ years old and may just be
one of the most social and gregarious cats you will ever meet. I rush
to greet my foster mom when she comes in the door, asking of course for
her complete and undivided attention. I know my name and go to the lucky
person who seeks my company. Lying on a comfortable lap and being petted
is right at the very top of my favorite things in life. I have a fair
amount to say about the happenings of the day and enjoy expressing my
opinion to my mom about the day's events. When a lap is not available
I relish romping and playing and don't mind quite
a bit of activity
at all . I wasn't used to being with other cats, besides my kids, but
have adjusted very well to the other cats in our foster home. So if you
are looking for a young, gentle, and extremely affectionate life's companion,
I'm your man. Now, may I tell you about my beautiful children? To view the whole gang playing, click HERE. |

Since my CARE web posting is being done on Memorial Day weekend, what could be more appropriate than for me to pose with our flag? I'm an All-American cat and I'm proud of it. Please don't let my name mislead you as I am anything but a brawler with people. To the contrary, I am the very essence of gentleness in the big 16 pound economy size. My friends often just call me "Mr. Cat" out of respect for my gentility of nature. I and my friend Sasha, who has been adopted, were very much loved by our human mom, but she fell sick and could no longer care for us. It broke her heart for us to leave her, but she knew that it was the best thing for us. I am about 5 years old and the kind of guy who just loves attention and will roll around and act silly to get just that. I am nattily attired in a perfect tuxedo, with white chin, stomach, and 4 white stockings. So where's the party? I come when called, cherish sleeping beside my person, and admit to a real fondness for my food bowl. I enjoy a good conversation with my person, but have a calm, not easily flustered disposition. My health is excellent and my litter box manners impeccable. I will be the ideal companion in a one cat family. Do you have room in your home and heart for one big softie? Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to arrange a visit with Dianne's big sweet fella. |

OK, we have a few miles on us, but oh what a fine pair of ladies we are.
At some point in our 17 years we were declawed (a horrible thing to do
to us) and surrendered to CARE, but it has been so long ago that nobody
can remember why our original people gave us up. We have been in the second
home we have known for the past 5 years, but a new husband has arrived
on the scene and has dictated that we must leave. We don't know why, but
don't think that such a callous act reflects at all well on him. So we
are once again in foster care and praying for the love without reservation
that we deserve. We also pray that we will be able to stay together, since
we have been paired for all of our 17 years, but understand that we may
have to be separated in order for us to find our new and FOREVER homes.
We are in excellent health and are just nice, nice kitties. May we tell
you a little about ourselves? Hi, I'm Louise and in my photo I am voicing my desire to be adopted by a kind person. I am darling and sweet and gentle. My age does not keep me from acting like a young girl and you can see in my photo that I am quite a beautiful lady. I am in good health too, although I am a little too thin and am being served canned kitten foods to bulk me up just a bit. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to arrange a visit with Helen's classic cuties. |

Hi, my name is Freckles! I am 11 months old now and have been waiting
for my forever home FOR SIX MONTHS NOW! My foster mom and I cannot figure
out why because I am the sweetest little girl. I am perfectly polite,
love giving kisses and snuggling in bed is my favorite. When I first came
to CARE I was very sick - ear mites, an eye infection, and more. But now
I am ALL HEALTHY and ready for my forever home. I get along great with
my foster sister kitty, love to carry my toys around, and sit with my
legs and arms stretched out - I must say I am quite the cutie! So, if
you have room in your heart (and your bed) I would love to be your best
friend forever! Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and you can talk with
Melissa D. about making me yours. |
