Smitty

Hannah

There's No Greater Joy Than A Sweet Orange Kitty
CARE Presents Hannah And Smitty

Hi, my name is Smitty (less than 2 years old) and I have been elected spokes cat for us. We and 17 others (which CARE found out later was 19 others) were cared for by a man who made some bad decisions in life and has ended up going to jail. Our dad has made mistakes, but he cared for us and he wept at the thought that we would be killed because no one wanted us. CARE has taken all 22 of us, including quite a few lady cats who were pregnant. 3 of them gave birth within a day or two of being rescued by CARE. It is sad, but the others were aborted because they were early in their pregnancies and there just are not enough loving homes for all their kittens. I am on the quiet side and am likely to be frightened until I get to know you. But once I know that I can trust you and am safe in your care, what a supreme lover I am and quite the lap cat too! I am used to having lots of cat friends and I particularly would love to be with Hannah, my good friend from my previous life. I have short fur but, as with most orange cats, it is glorious, very thick and soft as powdered sugar. Speaking of sugar, that's what I am. Now my girl will tell you about herself.

Hey there, I'm Hannah, one beautiful, albeit somewhat pudgy, orange and white girl. My foster mom calls me a joy, and who am I to argue with her? I love my feather wands and toy mice, but my very favorite thing is to lie beside or on top of my person and then take a quiet nap. I'm just a very special girl with a basic sweetness to my personality. With my colors, I'm the feline, and non-caloric, version of a creamsicle. I'm also less than 2 years old, so we will have many, many years to share with one another. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and Helen can tell you all about her foster babies.

Chewbacca
As Sweet As A Brownie, Rich & Gooey
Our No-Cal Alternative- A Girl Named Chewie

Hi there! My name is Chewbacca. I am about 7 years old and I dare anyone to deny that I look like a purebred Maine Coon. I have a thick amazing coat that hangs down to my knees which, as you might have guessed, gave rise to my name. I am a tortoise shell girl and my personality includes just about all of the Maine Coon attributes that people find so engaging. Those include being very amiable and genial and reveling in getting attention. I am also very gentle and easygoing. I treasure being loved on and would be very happy cuddling with my foster mom and dad all day long. If you are looking for a best friend to keep you warm on cold winter nights or, for that matter, to warm your heart anytime, then you need look no further. In this age of multi-tasking, how can you beat a lady who can be both a cuddle buddy and also a bed warmer? Just wait till you see my coat; my pictures don't do me justice. I live with other kitties in my foster home, and would do well in a home with other settled kitties- no wild young ones for me please. I almost lost my life in a local kill shelter, but was saved and am now living large in my foster home. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for Clara's Chewie.

Maxine
With Warm Gentle Ways And Eyes Sky Blue
Beneath Her Beauty Beats A Heart So True

I hope that you will forgive my immodesty, but I am such a beautiful girl. Wanting a loving home, now is not the time to hide my light under a basket! A blue point Siamese mix with bright sky blue eyes, I am twelve years young and look like a young girl. I was rescued from a pound where I lived, if you can call it that, in a cage for 3 months. For such a companionable girl such an isolated existence was a terrible experience. I am such a special sweet and loving girl that the wonderful staff did their best to find me a forever home. But, alas for us senior kitties, it seems that everyone wants a young cat or kitten. After I was rescued, I went to the vet and got my teeth cleaned; I was definitely overdue to see the dentist and I feel much better now. I am super friendly and social, and I thrive on attention. I am an alert, inquisitive kitty, and I will roll over on my back for belly rubs - they're the best. I have a dog-like personality and am utterly devoted to my foster mom and dad. I will be a treasured addition to any family. Many people don't realize that mature kitties like me make great companions. We have used our years to perfect our house manners. We won't use your curtains as a jungle gym, and will cherish just sitting quietly with you while you read a book or watch TV. I am in excellent health and am completely ready for my forever home. I also do fine with quiet dogs and cats. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for Clara's marvelous Maxine.

Molly (Teen)

Polly (Polly is Adopted)

Do You Know What Would Be Pure Folly?
Missing Out On The Love Of Polly & Molly

Hi, I'm Molly. My sister Polly and I were entrusted to a rescuer who unfortunately wasn't able to devote the time and energy to us that we deserved. Consequently our development was slowed, but happily we are now with an experienced and conscientious foster parent who has taught us so many good things. That includes learning to play and to purr and to cuddle. Actually the purring came to me very easily once I felt safe and loved. When I first arrived here I had an upper respiratory infection or, as I like to call it, a kitty cold. So I had to spend 2 weeks in isolation so that the other kittens would not catch anything from me. That was scary and sad for me because I am social and wanted to be where the action was. Now that I am back with the rest of the crew I love to play with all the other kittens. We have a wonderfully tall cat tree in our room and I'm usually the first to reach its top. I have about 10 cat friends and we have the run of 2 screened porches (when it's not too cold) and 3 rooms, plus we get lots of attention from our foster mom. It's great! I am a lovely and loving 8 month old (as of 2-3) sweetheart.

I'm Polly. Don't you love all the exotic Bengal like spots in my soft dove gray tabby fur? I'm just a social butterfly who loves everyone and everything. I romp and play, eat and sleep to restore my energy, and then play some more. And even better, I am a low maintenance kind of girl who delights in carrying a plain old balled up piece of paper around in my mouth. I drop it, give it a bat, retrieve it, and then run with it some more.

Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797- Helen can tell you all about us.

Fancy

Fancy's Beautiful Autumnal Colors

Dapper Dan
What Need Be Said About Fancy & Dan?
She'll Be Your Lady And He Your Man

Seven of us were stuffed into carriers and abandoned on a cold night. We passed that seemingly endless night in freezing temperatures and in terror of the unknown before we were discovered and rescued the next day. Our foster mom, Dianne, has spent the time since fattening us up and convincing us that things really are going to be OK. We're ready now for our FOREVER homes and would love to tell you a bit about ourselves.

Fancy: I'm a gorgeous tortie lady who in my loving foster home quickly has forgotten my past ill treatment and who has gladly accepted the position of queen of the household. My foster mom says that my name is very appropriate, as I have a little strut in my walk and because I am rightfully proud of my beautiful plume of a tail. I am very affectionate and giving and I much enjoy being held. When I am spoken to I respond by replying and by rolling over for a tummy rub. I am only about a year old, in excellent health, and possess purrfect house manners. Although I might be a bit bashful at first with a stranger, I surely will adapt to a caring family just as I have to my foster home. My pleasing personality and striking autumnal colors will sooth you and add a great deal of love to your life. I am wonderful with other cats too, so a multi-cat household would be no problem for me at all.

Dapper Dan: You know, as much as I strive to be modest, the dapper part of my name surely does fit me. I am a very handsome guy, only about a year old, with my darker charcoal gray coat over my lighter dove gray undercoat and my magnificent ruff. I admit that I was frightened at first when we were all brought in from the cold into our foster home. But I warmed quickly to the boundless love and care that I have received here. I am now quite the lover, gently patting your legs as you pass to let you know that I'm here and ready for some affection. I am definitely, if you will excuse the expression, a chow hound and don't mind letting you know when I'm hungry. I am a gentleman with impeccable manners and my mom says that I am very close to being the perfect cat. What does she mean by VERY CLOSE? Oh well, I'll let that one slide since she is a wonderful mom and means well. I'm grand with other cats and with people and I'm betting that my big sweet personality will make you smile.

Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to arrange to meet Dianne's sweeties in their foster home.

Mary

She's Soft As Down, Sweet And Purry
There's Just Something About Mary

After spending many weeks in a kill shelter and praying for rescue the whole time I was there, CARE came for me just as my time was up. As terrifying as that was for me, I came through the experience extremely well adjusted and able to maintain my kindly and genial nature. My color is pastel tortoiseshell and my fur is as soft as powdered sugar, so soft in fact that my foster mom cannot stop petting me. Well, when that happens what's a girl to do? Of course I snuggle, knead bread, and purr my little one year old head off. In spite of my cover girl good looks, I am not one to strike a pose or have a catitude. I am just a very gentle soul, good with other cats and nice children. I haven't been around dogs, but I see no reason why I could not live peacefully with a cat friendly pooch. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to make Helen's sweet muffin yours.

Josie
"I'm A Plump Baby Doll Named Josie
Adopt Me & Our Futures Will Be Rosy"

My CARE friend says that if you enter the words plump, baby, and doll in Google search, the first result you will see is my photo. I think that he may be exaggerating, but I am a gem of a young lady cat. I'm only between 1 and 2 years old and was rescued from a rural kill shelter. If it is true that the eyes are the windows to the soul, then mine must be picture windows. They are golden and people say that they just melt when they look into them and see there all the love that resides within me. I am a plush lass, with very thick and soft fur that entices you to pet me some and then some more. I'm not a shy one and just love life in general. I treasure my time spent with my person and can never get enough caresses and soft scratches. Other cats are my buddies so a multi-cat family would be just fine with me. before I was to die in that horrible pound CARE came for me and the 5 others whose lives were to be extinguished that day. It is a pound in which the unfortunates incarcerated there are given just a few days to be adopted. Then, even if there is room for them to stay in the pound, they are put down when their allotment of time has expired. I am safe and loved in my foster home and now await the start of my new life. I have a very pretty white vest and face mask, the most gorgeous pearly white teeth, and a precious pink nose that my foster mom says reminds her of a bunny rabbit's. Only about 1 to 2 years old, I am a total lap kitty who is fine with other cats and who purrs constantly. Pet me and the purring begins, never to stop until you do. I am a lovely girl who will make a lucky family a wonderful companion and faithful friend. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797- Helen is my foster mom.

Reuben (Declawed)
He's The Color & Softness Of New Fallen Snow
His Loving Nature Will Make Your Heart Glow

The color of a lamb and twice as gentle, I am 9 to 10 years old and have become homeless. I was abandoned in a carrier in a shopping center parking lot, left between 2 cars with cases of canned food stacked on top of the carrier. My kidneys don't function as well as those of a young cat, but I am on a special canned food diet and am doing great now. I am an easy going, affable guy who gets along with everyone. I am as sweet as I am handsome. My foster mom, Sandy, says that if a really good family for me comes along, but they have reservations about my medical condition, CARE could make me their permanent foster boy. That way CARE would be responsible for my possible future medical expense. I am no trouble at all and am just one big love bug. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and Sandy can fill you in on all the details.

Pish

Patrick

Patrick (L) & Pish
Boundless Love To Fulfill Your Every Wish
Embodied In Brothers Patrick & Pish

Who could imagine that 2 loving little brothers like us could end up running afoul of law enforcement and being carted off to kitty jail? Well, we are definitely not criminals and yet we ended up in a place where our futures were extremely bleak. We were there for a week with no one coming to post bail for us. But then the cavalry rode to our rescue and we were sprung from the pen. Now we are in a loving foster home where we can eat, play, and sleep without fear of being scooped up and thrown again into the slammer. So without further ado here is a bit about each of the Brothers Two.

Pish: I'm what is called a patch tabby as I am mostly white with nifty tabby patches. I'm as sweet as maple syrup and absolutely crave attention and loving. I'll roll over and over to get your attention and affection. One touch from my person and my purr motor revs right up. I relish play time, but first on my list of favorite things is getting, you guessed it, attention. I get along famously with other kitties too. As you can see in my photo, I am very photogenic and loved posing for my web pictures.

Patrick: I'm the smaller of the pair and also the somewhat bashful one. A dapper tabby lad, I have very cool stripes and spots in my coat. I'm just finding that there are people who are really nice and it feels sooo good to be caressed and cuddled and talked gently to. I'm no slacker in the play department, even if I am small, and I can keep up with the best of them. As is true of gifts, in the world of kitties very often great things come in the smallest packages.

We are 9 weeks old as of 1-27 and our wonderful foster mom is Connie. Now that we have received our pardons, is there room in your home and heart for us little jailbirds? Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797.

Cyrus

"Hear Ye! Hear Ye! I'm No Watered Down Version
I'm Cyrus The Great, Full-Blooded Persian"

Contrary to my sort of grumpy little old man face and the warlike ways of my namesake (Cyrus the Great, who founded the Persian Empire), I am a lover and not a fighter. I am a pure bred Persian and only about one and a half years old. My foster mom says that my face is wonderful and that it makes her smile every time she sees me. The minute anyone comes into my foster care room I go to them to be petted and scratched. I'm just a big friendly boy. I'm what my CARE friend calls a "flopper," because I tend to flop over for you to rub my tummy. I am a quiet and well behaved guy, and quite tidy too. After each meal I thoroughly groom myself and snort away (due to my Persian nose) as I wash up. I enjoy climbing up into my cat tree where I sit on the perch closest to the person seated in the adjacent recliner. I am very adept at stationing myself perfectly within reach so as to get as many scratches and rubs under the chin and behind my ears as possible. I had not had much experience with toys before coming to my foster home, but my playful foster mommy has taught me to enjoy and respond to my TurboScratcher and the feather wand. Because I am Persian with elegant long hair I will need to be brushed on a daily basis, which is something that I love too. There's no doubt that I will make someone a terrific big old mushy buddy who will be a fine lap sitter. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask Andrea to tell you all about me and arrange for us to meet.

Polly

"Polydactyle Sounds Prehistoric, Lord Knows
But, It Just Means That I Have Extra Toes"

I am a 6 month old (as of 1-24) graduate of the School of Hard Knocks and the Caroline Co. pound. Like many of the cats who reside at the Ernest Hemingway home in Key West, I am a polydactyle. Hemingway cats are often called mitten cats because our extra toes give us the look of wearing mittens or catcher's mitts. I was somewhat shy and bashful at first, but after a little time in foster care I am coming around and quickly coming to love this thing called being petted. I am extraordinarily sweet and gentle, even enjoying having my belly rubbed; cat connoisseurs know that allowing one's belly to be petted is a sign of a trusting and affable nature. I am fond of other cats and get along nicely with my foster mom's cat friendly dogs. My foster mom Janet says that I am one honey of a cat,
Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797.

Tippy (Kitten)

Whether The Weather Be Warm Or Nippy
Revel In The Cuddles Of Our Girl Tippy

Attired in a natty and very plush black and white tuxedo, I am a 4 month old (as of 1-20) girl kitten. I'm a stocky little thing and my foster mom doesn't think that I will grow very large. I can be a little bashful, but I adore playing with my kitten pals and my myriad of toys, especially my fuzzy toy mice. At the top of my favorite things are being petted, stroked, and told how beautiful I am. Just try it and you'll be rewarded with the loud and happy rumble of my purr. I am a doll baby from the white tips of my ears to the very end of my fluffy tail.

Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797- Chris is my foster mom.

Stryper (Teen)

Stryper's Stripe
Engage Her In Polite Conversation
You'll Adopt Her Without Reservation

I am an 8 month old (as of 1-20) brown tabby baby girl. True to my name I have beautiful striped markings, but I also have sporty black spots on my back and sides. I am quite the conversationalist and readily answer back when you talk to me. I revel in being petted and stroked, as you will see when I arch my back up into your caressing hand. Being picked up and cuddled is grand. Other than that, after exhausting myself romping very hard with my toys, my favorite pastime is to perch in the window to observe the activities of the birds and squirrels outside. It is wonderful to be safe and cared for inside, able to enjoy the outdoors without being exposed to its dangers.

SPECIAL NEEDS KITTY

Cooper

Cooper and Friends

A Chance At Life For This Little Trooper
Can Be Your Loving Gift To Dear Cooper

Hi, I'm Cooper and I've asked my foster mom Shannon to tell you my story. I'm a special little fellow and I pray that there is an equally special person out there who understands that we all have limitations of one sort or another and who can give me a loving home and the care that I need. Here is my story.

Cooper has now been with me since July and has made unbelievable strides. He can now walk on carpet, climb stairs, and jump on furniture. He does drag himself if he gets on wood floors or any surface that doesn't provide traction. However, he still does not have absolute control over bowel and bladder functions and has to be stimulated to make sure he poops in the toilet or litter pan- if you go too long, well he goes. Who knows what will happen in the future as neurological injuries can heal over time. He has regained much of his ability since being discovered in May as a two pound baby. It will take an unbelievable person to adopt him. At this point he remains special needs. He was found by a young college student at a home near the river on Memorial Day weekend with his all black mom and siblings. He is clearly part Siamese with beautiful sky blue eyes. He could not walk at the time and had no use of his back legs. He was probably around 8 weeks old at the time. Fearing that he would die his rescuer took him in, but did not have the money to pay for his medical care. She wanted to foster him and called CARE who agreed to have him seen by a vet. He was, and because he did show signs of promise, had some feeling in his legs, and was the sweetest kitten ever, the CARE vet felt he deserved a chance at life. The girl took him home but really was not equipped to meet his needs; he was having accidents because he needed to be stimulated to pee and poop and unfortunately the girl did not have time to do much with him. Cooper was left in a bathroom by himself, with her visiting him as her schedule allowed for about a month. She loved him and realized he needed more than she could provide. He had begun moving his legs more so CARE asked if I would evaluate him. When I got him his little bladder had become so distended that he leaked urine all of the time. So began the task of saving dear Cooper. X-rays showed no visible spinal injury as would be caused by trauma so the vets believe this was birth related, as his mommy lived outside and there is no telling what might have happened to her. I got him to pee about every 3-4 hours in the beginning to get his bladder to shrink back and allow him to begin to feel when he had to pee. We exercised and exercised, and he has done so well- growing and playing with the other babies. He is on a great regimen now with the right food for him (Purina One is the only food that keeps his poop nice and formed and I feed him I/D wet just to help with his growth. Fancy Feast or other wet foods give him loose stools, which are not good for anyone. I just get him up in the morning and poop him over the toilet (nice formed poops) just by stimulating him as you would a kitten. He will also pee in the toilet while being stimulated. He needs to be peed about every 8 to 10 hours and he now poops twice a day. Any person wanting to adopt him would have to provide him the time he needs. He loves to sleep in his cage at night and plays in the day. He is very social and will rub and purr all over you. He loves other cats. The pee no longer leaks out and he has really good control over that. However he does not know yet when he has to pee so has no desire yet for the litter box, although he does go into it and cover deposits by the other cats. So he has the desire to be tidy and an understanding of what cats do after using the litter box. While he would need a home that would not mind a little clean up, he really is good now. An adopter would have to be there for him as he so enjoys human interaction. He loves to go outside under my supervision and play in our fenced back yard. He can really walk well outside and that is good exercise for him. Because he could never ever escape from anything wishing to harm him, he would have to always be with a human anytime he is outside. He needs and deserves a warm house so he must be a house kitty. I love him dearly and am trying my best to find his forever home. He is great with everyone- cats, dogs, kids, even vets. He's just the brightest spirit and loves life despite his own limitations. I had first said that if he worsened or was a mean cat, euthanasia would be best. But this guy is a trooper and really loves life. He deserves a happy life.
Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to speak with Shannon about her Cooper.

Charleigh
Soft Purr Rumbling Like A Miniature Harley
Awaiting You Here Is Dear, Gentle Charleigh

Our person abandoned me and my kittens Livie and Ellie at a kill shelter and it was just a very cat unfriendly place. We were terrified, but all is well now; we are all in foster care, although my kids are in a different foster home. That's OK though as I know that they are loved and safe. I am a really young mom who is less than a year old and I'm very petite. My foster mom says my longish tuxedo patterned fur is lovely, but I think my most beautiful feature is my gorgeous, big as a saucer, and gentle eyes. The first thing you'll notice when you meet me is those eyes. And get a load of my white Yosemite Sam whiskers and eyebrows as they are quite impressive too. This foster care thing is WONDERFUL with fresh food and water, and of course lots of loving. Can you imagine the sheer joy of having a sun filled window seat in which to sleep and then from which to watch the birds whizzing by outside? I'll soon be given roommates and will get to make new friends. I'm no trouble and am just a good, good girl. I long for a forever home where I will receive the respect and kindness that I was denied in my prior home. In the meantime I am fine here, adoring the neck and chinny scratches that I love and lightly vibrating with my soft but steady and reliable purr. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and Alison can arrange for us to meet.

Blue Boy
Life Has Its Troubles-Recession To H1N1 Flu
Lighten The Load With The Love Of Little Boy Blue

When I was just a wee kitten I was very sick with a nasty respiratory infection, but I'm very healthy now and eager for my very own forever home. My handsome, soft as down gray fur might just remind you of a Russian Blue kitty. Just 4 ½ months old as of 12-28, I relish playing with my toys and tussling with my tunnel, and I really enjoy the company of other kittens. Life's greatest pleasures are being picked up to be petted and loved on and I'll clamber on to your lap for your attention. My expressive face is very photogenic and I don't have any hang-ups at all about having my picture taken. I'm a grand blend of gentleness and sparkling personality. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask Chris to tell you all about me.

Roulette (Roulette is Adopted)

Blackjack

Casino (Casino is Adopted)
Their Names Aside, There's Just No Chance
That You Won't Fall In Love At First Glance

When we were saved we were barely surviving by eating out of a dumpster. Not exactly fine cuisine let us tell you, but when you are just a kitten and have no friends or family to help you out you are awfully glad to have even that.
Roulette: I'm about 8 months old (as of 12-28) and although Casino and I are from different litters I feel as though she is my sister. We are both lovely tortoiseshells. I have very large, expressive eyes and a downy soft and plush coat. I am still somewhat reserved at this point, but I absolutely love being petted and caressed, purring very loudly to show how much I enjoy it. The company of the other kittens is a real comfort to me and I try to lie as close as possible to them. I didn't have the company of my mom for very long, so this is probably my way of making up for that loss. My favorite hobbies are playing with my toys and looking out of the window with my new pal Spidey.
Update:When I and the other kittens were first trapped I was the one with the attitude. My, what miracles some time in a loving foster home can bring about! I now cherish being petted and I like to be stroked from head to toe. My purr is so loud that it sounds like a very soothing motorboat has entered the room. Just like Casino, I absolutely love the company of other cats and constantly seek to rub up against them to express my affection. I enjoy the dinner plate and have gained quite a bit of needed weight since my "dumpster days." Probably my favorite toy is the wand, even if I get one that's well used and no longer has anything attached to its end.
For my early video with my pal Spidey, please click HERE.
For a video of me romping with Casino, please click HERE.

Blackjack: My sister Roulette and I are about 8 months old as of 12-28. You would never know by looking at my sleek, silky self that when I was rescued I was horribly ill with an upper respiratory infection that nearly took my life. A trip to the emergency vet and weeks of careful doctoring have cured me completely and I am the picture of health. Because I had such difficulty breathing when I was a baby I couldn't play very much, but now I am a big strapping fellow who lives to eat and play with my sister and my fellow foster cats. I have a quiet, gentle nature and am on the bashful side, but I cherish lying on laps and being petted. I settle in and purr and purr, kneading with my soft paws all the while.
I have my very own video, although I do share it with my friend Opie. Please click HERE to see it.

Casino: I am a 4 1/2 month old (as of 11-12) tortoiseshell girl who is adventurous and very affectionate. I love to be petted and having my belly rubbed is a special treat as you can see in my video. I am very petite and have quite unusual markings in that there appears to be a lighter colored band encircling the middle of my body. I have touches of orange in my fur that look like they were applied with an artist's brush; very appropriate for a work of art, don't you think? I'm a laid back lass who likes to just relax and watch the other kittens play. A soft comfy bed is a special delight, especially given the life I lived prior to my rescue.
Update: I am now quite the talker and my purr is loud and reliable. I delight in having my belly rubbed and sleeping in my little pink "princess" bed. I love other cats and particularly enjoy hanging out with Roulette.

Batman (Teen)

PJ (L) and Frodo (Kittens)
Loneliness & Sadness Will Be Dead As The Dodo
When Your Heart Joins With Batman, PJ & Frodo

Our human mom, Shelia, works with the feral cats in her neighborhood and our parents are two of those feral kitties. Since all 3 of us were born right outside her home we've never been in a shelter and she has been our only human contact. Because of this we are very hesitant around strangers, but once we become accustomed to our new people and a new home we will be just as loving and sweet as we are with Shelia. We'd like to tell you a bit about ourselves.
Batman: Although I'm only 8 months old I have taken on the role of big brother to Frodo and PJ in every sense of the term. We have the same mom and I supervise them and try to keep them safe. I'm a playful guy, especially if it involves toys that I and Shelia can play with together. If she drags most anything around, I'll chase it! Still a little skittish where sudden movements are involved, I am quite the lover and delight in having my belly rubbed. This, as true cat lovers know, is the ultimate sign of trust from a cat. I'll walk ahead of mom and then suddenly and dramatically flop and look at her to say, "time for love, Mom, rub me please!"
Frodo: PJ and I are 14 weeks old now (as of 12-26). Our birth mom brought us to our human mom's yard when we were just 4 weeks old because she realized that it was a safe place. Shelia says that she is very much honored by this trust in her. Like my namesake I am quite the adventurer and explorer, always checking everything out and constantly on the go. Well at least until nap time when I'm out like a light. I love playing with my brothers, especially chasing my foster bro's favorite toys, aluminum foil balls. Admittedly my 15 pound foster brother, Stash, was none too appreciative of that at first, but my persistence has paid dividends. Stash not only will share his foil balls, but he will even play with me on occasion. Mom says that I'm a little guy who can endear himself to just about anyone.

PJ: My name stands for Papa, Jr. since I am the mirror image of my daddy, a traveling man by vocation. I have silky long black hair, with the only white being an angel's touch on my chest. You'll have to look fast to see it because I am always on the go. You'll find me still playing long after Frodo and Batman have called it quits. I don't mind entertaining myself and can make a game out of anything that I can find, but I excel at wrestling with my brothers. I'm more reserved than Frodo, but this thing called being loved on can really grow on a fellow. It's just at this kitten stage of my life play is always calling to me. I'm fastidious about my grooming and will even lick my mom's fingers for an eternity- or until it's time for another play session. Frodo and I are not just brothers, but also the very best of friends. For that reason our foster mom wants as much as we do for us to be adopted together. We would make anyone just the purrfect little cat family.
Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask for Alison to tell you all about us and to arrange for us to meet.

Dream Boy (Teen)

Anna (Anna is Adopted)

Rusty (Teen) (Rusty is Adopted!)

Rusty & Dream Boy
Although We Were Abandoned & Forsaken
Our Gentle Spirits Remain Strong & Unshaken

Six of us were crammed in just two cat carriers and abandoned at a local store. We cowered inside the carriers as we did not know where we were or what was going to happen to us. Blessedly CARE was on the case and whisked us away to a warm and comfortable foster home. Already 3 of us have found good forever homes and now we hope that it's our turn. We'll each tell you a little about ourselves.

Dream Boy: I prefer to think of my CARE moniker as a compliment rather than just my name and I hope that my forever family will give me a permanent one once they get to know me. I'm only about 6 months old and abandonment has been rougher on me than on the other 5. I was a bit reticent at first, but I am rapidly coming around and responding to the love I receive in foster care. My fear is melting away like a dusting of snow under the next morning's sun. I really enjoy hanging out with Rusty and we rub up against one another in friendship. I have a gentle disposition and mom describes me as a dear. You'll often find me at the top of the cat tree surveying my surroundings and watching the goings on in our foster room. I'm just what is referred to in the cat world as a good guy.

Anna: I'm just a baby girl at about 12 weeks old as of 12-15. I have impeccable manners and the life and love in me just shine through my precious little face. My fur is sumptuously plush and luxurious even though I am short haired. Play is high on my list of priorities and I scamper after anything that moves. My mom says that I am a joy to foster and an absolute darling. I love other cats too!

Rusty: Because I am so meticulous about my daily grooming you might think that I'm fussy, but I'm not. I just think that a guy with my gorgeous orange coat has to keep it in tip top condition. I'm a very friendly and sociable fellow who takes a lively interest in all that's going on around me. Sitting in my foster room's windows and watching the world outside go by is fun. If you are a fancier of orange tabbies, and who isn't, you will find me hard to resist me and my classic profile. I'm just a teen at the tender age of 9 months.

Our foster mom is Helen. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797.

Brittany
She's A Sweetie Through & Through
Kind Of Heart Is This Russian Blue

I once had a home, although my memory of it is fast fading. I was rescued by a kindly gentleman, who tried as hard as he could to place me back in my home. But his efforts were to no avail and I am now in foster care and anxiously awaiting my new, and I pray forever, home. I have the soft and dove gray fur of a Russian Blue and my eyes are large, radiant, and loving. At the tender age of about 2 years my life has been turned upside down, but I have become comfortable enough in my foster home to do normal cat things like giving myself a nice bath. At first I just curled up in a ball, but I see light at the end of the tunnel now and just know that there is a special someone out there for me. I am an agreeable girl who would fit in fine with other nice cats or dogs.
Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for Helen's velvet sweetie.

JD

Rocky (Rocky is Adopted)
"It's Not Our Style To Be Conceited Or Cocky
But They Don't Come Finer Than JD & Rocky"

Hi, we are the Purr Brothers and this is our story. My name is JD, short for James Dean because I'm wearing a black cap and jacket. I'm the dapper black and white fellow and I do almost all the talking for me and my brother. His name is Rocky (because our foster mom says he's a gorgeous as Rocky in the second movie - not that first one) and he's solid black. We used to be part of a feral colony that a lovely retired couple cares for in their back yard. We were born about mid June 2009. Besides us, there is our Mom, an older sister and some older brothers. Everyone had been spayed/neutered and as soon as our litter got big enough we were going to have our surgeries too. Well, there were two mean neighbor men that hate cats, especially the one living next door. Everything was fine 'till he got out of prison; tells you a little bit about his character, doesn't it? He said the only good cat is a dead cat and got some traps to catch us in. Then he was going to have us put down. Our sister was one of the first ones caught. Our Mom was so upset she moved us for a whole week. When we came back we were sooooo hungry. Our caretakers were very upset and afraid that worse things, like poisoning, were in our future. They desperately wanted us out of there for our safety. I, JD, was the first one caught. Our mother was so upset she even charged when our foster mom came to get me. And, yes, she moved my siblings again. Once I got to my foster place I cried and cried for two days for my mom and desperately looked for her out the windows. But I was only 5-6 weeks old. I fell for my foster mom right way and never once hissed or acted remotely feral. The next week my brother, Rocky, was caught and he was friends with our foster mom within an hour or two. After that our Mom moved the rest of the litter and they have never been seen again. We hope nothing horrible happens to them like the horrible plan of the mean ole neighbor man. Rocky and I are just grateful to be inside, to have good food and lots of toys, and most important of all to be lavished with love and attention. We are now looking for a great forever home of our own. My favorite things to do are playing, more playing, purring, helping with any chores, and giving my opinion on all kinds of things- and then more playing. When I run a lot my tail gets huge and bushy! Rocky's treasured things are playing, the warmth of human laps, purring, and snuggling in the cat bed. Even though he doesn't talk much he does make chirps and trills when he's playing. Every morning we try to "break out" of our foster room to go exploring but we get greeted by cranky senior cats who really don't want us around. We get along fine with and enjoy playing with the other two teenagers here though. We do love each other a lot and hope that we can get a home together, but it isn't absolutely necessary. However, we do complement each other nicely and if you are looking for two playful and very affectionate boys, we're them! I do want to go ahead and apologize for our behavior at the adoption stand. We really don't show how wonderful we really are there. But the store is big and there are lots of strangers and noise, so we get nervous and kind of hunker down and don't do much. But once we return home we happily greet our two roomies and make up for lost play time. Hope you stop by to see us. Love, JD & Rocky
PS: Please have our foster mom tell you how we like to drink water and call Sandy on the CARE line at (804) 288-9797 and let them know you are interested in MaryBeth's fosters.

Cimarron (Cimarron is Adopted)
By The Love Bug You'll Be Bitten
Each One's A Very Special Kitten

We are not necessarily siblings, but we were trapped in the same feral colony located in a not so nice area of town. We are so fortunate to have been delivered from that stark, harsh, and usually all too short life while we were still babies. We love our foster home and the tender care of our foster mom has created loving sweethearts who are social and primed for their forever homes. We get along very well with one another, playing and relaxing together. We are about 14 weeks old as of 11-11. May we each tell you a bit about ourselves?

Shelby: Right when I was first trapped I have to admit that I had a lot of attitude going on. The day after I came to polite society I went to the vet and displayed such a feisty side that it really amused the vet tech. It didn't take me long though to mellow out. I now am the quiet observer and have volunteered for the role of protector of our little group. Mature for my youth, I have a wisdom and depth to me that are evident when you look into my eyes. My foster mom says that she loves when we gaze lovingly into each other's eyes. I am gentle, open to attention, and have so much devotion and warmth to offer.

Castelle: Mom says that I was a major pistol when first captured and that I made her thankful for stout gloves. I was just so scared at the time and she says it is understandable that I wasn't precisely in the mood to socialize with these strange creatures that had snared me in their trap. After some time in my fantastic foster home, I have turned myself around. In addition to my physical beauty, I have a quiet and affectionate nature combined with a little purr engine that cranks up when I am petted. One of my favorite hobbies is just hanging out in my kitty hammock and I'd love to hang out with you.
For a video of me and Freckles click HERE.

Freckles: I am a real tortie calico doll baby and on visits to the vet, all sorts of people have commented on my adorable face. My markings are very unusual and you will note right away the freckles on my face. Mom says that I am quite the charmer who revels in being loved on and who has a purr that revs up at the first sign of affection coming my way. A playful little girl, I have a very outgoing and pleasant personality. I have so much love within me and I'm anxious to share it with my forever family.
Please click HERE for my video with Castelle.

Rambo: After only a short while in my foster home, I now ask for attention and am becoming one of my foster mom's most affectionate charges. I have a sweet and gentle nature, cooperating like a good lad when I have to have meds. I play nicely with my sister and am very soft pawed; that is, I keep my claws to myself. While I enjoy play time and batting balls around, I am equally content to curl up with my sister and enjoy her grooming me. I have a sweet face with kind eyes and I am very trusting. Mom says that I am just an all around good little fellow.
For my very own video with Cimarron click HERE.

Scampurr: I got my name from the delight I take in running about and playing a game of hide and seek with my foster mom when she peers around a corner at me. Once I’m “it” I settle down for pets and purrs. I'm an adorable girl and quite outgoing. I love romping and snuggling with my foster brother. I'm a petite thing at only just over 3 pounds as of 11-22. Spunky and confident, I scurry about with my little tail held high over me. I'm a loving lass, anxious to soothe you with my soft purr.
My mom has discovered what a smart and inventive kitten I am, as I have learned how to open closed doors using the knob and also how to open the doors on cat carriers. Mom banned me and my kitten friends from the laundry room, closing the French doors but leaving a scratching pad hanging from one of the knobs. Climbing up on the scratching pad, I opened the other door and then escorted my buddies in. Mom left a carrier, latched, in my room. When she came into the room, out I strolled from the carrier. She has no idea how I did it, and I'm not telling.
For my videos, click HERE. and HERE

Ellie: I was at death's door when I entered my foster parents' lives. I had such a horrible upper respiratory infection that I could not see out of my little eyes and my breathing was labored. With eye meds, nose drops, antibiotics, and even some forced feeding I pulled through. Mom says that after 4 days of putting ointment into swollen red tissue where my eyes should be, it was joyous for her to actually see my eyes looking back at her. Then I started to eat on my own and now I've become quite the little chunk, putting on 2 pounds in just a month. What a transformation I have undergone, going from a wisp of a kitten to a confident girl who enjoys "taking on" the larger kittens. At first I did nothing but sleep, but now I delight in playing with my toys, either by myself or in romps with the other kittens. What hasn't changed is how I love to be cuddled and loved on and my purring up a storm. I have a very sweet doll baby side to me and don't mind asking for the attention that I crave.

Purrsy: I won't deny it- I'm a little cutie and sweet as pecan pie. I am extremely gentle with soft paws and I ask for attention verbally with a precious little voice and paws that reach out to touch you. Mom says that I am such an affectionate girl kitten, with adorable black markings on my snowy white fur and the cutest pink nose and lips. I have heard her use the words irresistible and kissable when she is talking about me. I love my toys, but my favorite hobbies are getting attention and climbing up on to my mom's shoulder for some cheek to cheek contact.

Cimarron: I am a charming baby girl with Angel's touches of white on my chest and tummy. I'm one little love muffin who delights in being held and cuddling on my mom's lap. I love my kitten roomies and chasing toys at the end of wands. When play time is over, my favorite place to nap is in our cat tent where it's cozy and warm and from which I can watch my playmates.

L'il Ned
What's The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread?
Why It's A Loving Fellow Called L'il Ned

When I was rescued I had open wounds around my neck, but I'm completely healed now and looking quite dapper if I do say so myself. Only about 1 ½ years old as of 11-8, I'm a friendly and playful fellow who would do fine with other nice cats like myself. My foster mom's older cats tend to bully me so I keep my distance from them, but I think that's just being prudent. I revel in lap napping and being petted. I'm also a tremendous help around the house as I enjoy helping my foster mom make the bed and assisting her with reading the daily newspaper. One of my favorite toys is the circle with the ball in it that goes around and around when I give it a good whack. It's called a TurboScratcher. To summarize, I'm just a very nice and neat guy who will make a lucky family a loving and devoted companion. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and be sure to ask about Kathryn's sweet foster boy.

Clemson Kitten
He Once Traveled A Hard And Perilous Road
His Gentle Spirit Awaits To Ease Your Load

No matter what you might think of the menu, I know that I will always have a fond spot in my heart for Arby's restaurant since it was from one of their parking lots that I was rescued. You can't have a much rougher start in life than I had and consequently I am a bit unsure sometimes. True to my orange tabby heritage, I am as sweet and gentle as they come. At only 12 weeks of age (as of 11-1) it is early in the game for me and there is plenty of time for me to grow more confident and assured as I mature. I hope that the right person comes along for me who will appreciate how loving and affectionate I am and who loves the sound of my reliable, loud, and soothing purr. I enjoy the company of one of my foster mom's own cats and we play very nicely together. I just need a soft touch and the companionship of a family that is as gentle as I am. You'll have a faithful and constant friend. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 where my friend Sandy can tell you all about me and arrange for us to meet.

Snoodles

Won't You Love A Girl Named Snoodles?
She Vows To Love You Oodles!

I am an exceptionally beautiful calico (about 2 years old as of 10-21) with all the warm, bright colors of autumn throughout my bunny soft fur, but I also have my beauty mark; it's the cutest black nose you ever saw. I do have a lot more orange in me than most calicos and my CARE web friend has included a photo of me from the side so that you can see how awesome I am. Adoptions are few at most pounds and usually there are only two ways out. You either are saved by a rescue group like CARE or you die there. Although I was at the pound from July until my delivery on Oct. 13, I was one of the lucky ones. I'm a little on the skinny side from all that time spent at such a frightening place. Kind of puts a girl off of her feed, you know? I get along nicely with other cats, but people are my specialty. My foster mom and I often have conversations and I really enjoy having someone to talk with and confide in- I think that she feels the same way. I am sweet as apple pie, snuggly, and play gently. Mom tells me that I am soon to have my spay surgery, whatever that is, and she also tells me that I am awfully lucky not to be "in the family way." Can't say I know what that means, but I do know that I'm a very happy girl to be here in my foster home, soon I hope to have my very own family. By the way, my cage mate at the pound was a wonderful young lady cat named Sharon and you can read about her here too. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for Helen's sweet and sassy Snoodles.

Superman
Meet Him Once & You'll Be A Fan
To Sum It Up, He's Super, Man!

I am a healthy sized tuxedo wearing, white whiskered kitten, recently rescued with my brothers Mr. Whiskers and Batman from a pound. I am 4 to 5 months old as of 10-23. After months in confinement at the shelter, our foster home is a heavenly place filled with toys, lots of room to romp and roam, and two enormous sunny windows from which to watch the world go by. That world is interesting from afar, but we much prefer our safe and comfortable sanctuary to the outside of our past lives. Playing, purring, racing, and sleeping keep my schedule filled, but I can always find time to fit in some cuddle and petting time with my person. If you happen to talk with my foster mom, Helen, would you tell her that my toy mice are showing some wear and that it would be awfully nice to get some new ones? Better yet, take me home and you can give me those replacement rodents yourself. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797.

Jackson

You'll Think This Love Was Heaven Sent
When You Make Yours This Southern Gent

My CARE admirer has described me as very handsome, elegant, and possessing an air of sophistication for someone only about a year old, but I'm not above sleeping with my favorite stuffed animal. I share a foster home with 3 dogs and a bird and even in this menagerie I stand out. I have a classic face, exotic eyes, sleek long body and legs, and a dapper white vest. I'm energetic and playful, but when the romping ends the loving begins. I delight in cuddling in bed with my person and purring them to sleep. There's nothing more comforting, I have heard, than a cat's purr and I am up to the task of soothing my guardian. I like to think that I am large enough to protect you and loving enough to make your life complete. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and talk with Dianne about making me your guy..

Paula
A Loving Treasure In Black Velvet Fur
If You Make Her Yours, You Cannot Err

When I went to the vet for my spay surgery, I can't say that it was the most fun I have ever had. But the ladies at the vet clinic sure enjoyed my visit, saying that I am one of the nicest kittens to ever come through the doors to the clinic. My foster mom Helen seconds that nomination. She says that I am just purrfect, frolicsome and playful, but always gentle and very warm hearted and loving to other cats and to people. I am solid black with the softest and most velvety fur; everyone knows that a little black cat is always in style. There is much love wrapped in this little package and lucky will be the adopter who makes me their lifelong companion. I am 4 to 5 months old as of 10-19. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for us to meet.

Mr. Whiskers
Listen To Your Heart When To You It Whispers, "Embrace This Guy Named Mr. Whiskers"

I'm a good sized lovable guy, almost twice as large as my brothers Batman and Superman. From my exquisite copper eyes to my Yosemite Sam whiskers, I am quite the handsome lad at just 4 to 5 months of age (as of 10-19). My foster mom Helen absolutely adores me and tells me that I am one of the sweetest and most loving kittens she has ever fostered. That's saying something indeed since she has fostered more cats than you could even imagine. I am moderately active, but never frenetic or crazy. While gentle as a lamb, I still enjoy playtime when it is appropriate. I guess you could call me an easy cat- easy in the best sense of the word. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for the start of a beautiful friendship.

Isabella
On A Rainy Day Grab An Umbrella
For A Lifetime Of Love Adopt Isabella

After spending 3 of my 24 months or so of life in an austere pound cage, I was saved and whisked off to a wonderful CARE foster home. My philosophy of life is people yes, felines no. I just don't get along with those of my own species, but I enjoy human company very much. After some initial shyness, I will settle down on your lap and luxuriate in getting some soft caresses and chinny scratches. So there you have it; if you need a devoted feline friend and don't mind my being the only cat in your life, I'm the girl for you. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Janet's sweet Isabella.

Batman (R) with Mary Trois

Like A Buffet Beckons To A Fat Man
You Won't Be Able To Resist The Batman

Like Mary Trois I came to the rural pound as a tiny guy where I languished in a cage until CARE arrived and took us all to a wonderful foster home. I am a black and white playing machine who never tires of the toys and feathers here. I was caged for 8 weeks with no toys to enjoy so I am in absolute heaven with the cat trees and wide variety of kitty toys in my foster home. Don't think that I am a high maintenance guy though as a balled up piece of paper is fine with me as long as my person is playing with me. I am a gentle soul who often sniffs my foster mom's face and gives her kisses. Human companionship, after such a long while with very little of it, calms me and makes me feel secure. I can't wait to have my very own forever home where there will be someone to play with me lots and lots and where I will be a cherished family member. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for a Batman awaiting his Robin. I am about 4 months old as of 10-8 and CeCe is my foster mom.

Jerry (L) and Ben

L to R- Panda, Patches & Jack
The Fab Five- Panda, Patches, Jack, Ben & Jerry
Each Offers Much Love In A Package Soft & Furry

Our foster mom has convinced us that we really do have worth and that we are deserving of love. Why was it necessary for her to do so you might ask. Well, we were only 4 weeks old when our mom was killed. As bad as that was, what came next was horrible too. We were taken to a yard sale and offered as "freebies" to anyone who wanted us. We might have ended up in the hands of someone who could have abused us, fed us to another animal, or used us as a dog fighting training device. We give thanks every day that our foster mom came along and realized what a dangerous situation we were in. We are 9 weeks old as of 9-29 and now we are healthy, happy, spunky, and playful kittens. We are social little ones who get along great with other cats and nice dogs. As much as we love our foster mom, we wish mightily for loving forever homes where we have value and are cherished. We girls are named Panda and Patches and the boys are Jack, Ben, and Jerry. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797- our foster mom is Paulina.

Harlie
You Won't Be A "Me" In Search Of A Marley
Everything You'd Want Is Here In Harlie

At a country store in rural King William County I was abandoned and left to perish. Thankfully there was a litter of 5 other kittens (right below my posting) there with whom I quickly bonded. Their companionship helped me to survive until we were all rescued. I am about 4 months old as of 9-27 and I'm one outgoing calico girl kitten, full of vim and vigor and having absolutely no problem entertaining myself. No matter their size, I am fearless with other cats and I see them as potential playmates who might accommodate me in my preference to play all day long. To me just about everything is a toy and source of constant amusement. When I finally crash for a much needed nap, I enjoy cuddling next to my person while I recharge the old battery for renewed romping. I am pretty near perfect, but in the interest of full disclosure I am missing the last inch of my tail, which was injured prior to my rescue. In summation, I am just a very neat little girl who is awaiting a kind family to love me forever. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for Marie's Harlie girl.

JR (JR is Adopted!)

Reba
Hurry Hither Ye Ladies & Misters
To Adopt Yon Fine Brothers & Sisters!

It was a dangerous place in which to take refuge, but the five of us kittens had no home and nowhere else to go. So the rural country store alongside a busy truck route was where we managed to survive, along with our pal Harlie, until we were blessedly rescued. We are about 6 months old as of 9-27. Now without further ado, we will tell you a bit about ourselves.

JR: I'm a very handsome, dove gray guy who loves nothing more than to cuddle on your lap and hang out with you. I'm the biggest one of our litter so although I really enjoy romping with the other kittens I have to be careful that I don't get too rough with the smaller ones. I have a reliable and steady purr motor and it does not take much encouragement for me to start up a conversation with you.

Ossie: My striking bull's eye tabby markings are pretty exotic looking I admit, but I'm just a sweet little putty tat. I'm an excellent conversationalist, a lover of cuddling with my person, and a player with my siblings. Once my romping has worn me out, I'll crawl into your lap for some loving and perhaps a nice nap. My foster mom says that I am just a beautiful guy, inside and out.

Ginger:I am the softest buff color with bull's eye tabby markings. I am the shyest of our litter and need a bit more TLC, but I am a work of art in progress. The finished product will be awesome. A paint-by-number girl I'm not; a masterpiece takes longer to craft, but the wait is well worth it. While not as outgoing as some, I do enjoy being caressed and brushed. The being picked up and carried around thing is not yet my favorite thing, but I'm working on it. It may never be something that I'm crazy about, but that doesn't mean that I'm not a cornucopia of love and devotion. Being indoors has proven to be a wonderful thing, but it is still a big adjustment for someone like me who was born into a very harsh life. Like my brother and sisters I am blessed with the gift of conversation and would enjoy having my very own family to talk with. I've come a long way and just need your love to complete my journey.

Geena: I'm not only a dark orange tabby girl; I'm a bull's eye tabby too. I can be a bit shy and retiring, but allow me a few days to settle in and you will see how truly sweet and affectionate I am. I adore being loved on and brushed and will find my way up into your lap when I need my petting fix. I'm playful too and you can often find me sleeping in a pile with my siblings when I have worn myself out. I have the most melodious trill, so when I talk to my human mom she says it almost sounds as though I am singing. How can you say no to this face? I have so much love to give to the family who will hold me dear forever.

Reba: Orange girl kitties are fairly rare, so to find 3 of us in one litter is pretty remarkable. I am a classic short haired orange tabby and am the most outgoing of us 3 sisters. I am also the one most likely to strike up a conversation with you and ask for your take on the events of the day. I'm a playful lass and whether it is tussling with my siblings or romping with my toys, it's all good to me. I relish hanging out with my people and when the old eyelids get heavy and it's time for a nap, I'll be cuddling on your lap. One look into them and my marmalade eyes will mesmerize you.

Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to meet Marie's fine feline family.

Skiddy, Oreo, & Friends

Oreo

Skiddy (L) and Oreo
2 Lovers Here- We Are Oreo & Skiddy
Make Us Yours- You'll Be Sitting Pretty

Hi, my name is Skiddy and my brother and best friend in the whole world is Oreo. We are 3 year old bundles of love whose people moved out of state and did not take us with them. Why we have no idea, but it broke our hearts. We were faced with quite likely dying in a pound, but our people's neighbor, Stacey, could not bear the thought of that. She knew going in that her saving us was not going to be an easy thing for her family as she and her daughter have severe allergies to kitties. They would love to make us their own, but after many visits to the doctor it is clear that the allergies are winning. So CARE has taken us in and has promised us that we they will find a wonderful forever home for the two of us. As much as we love each other, we love our people too. We adore nice children like Stacey's, delight in snuggling up with you at night, and would just fit right into your family. We relish receiving attention, but when our people are busy or away from home we keep each other company and play well together. We do well with other animals too, but we are almost one heart shared by two bodies. When one of us is out of sight for too long, we cry for each other until we are back together. We are great boys with so much love and devotion to shower on the family that can give us just as much love in return. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to meet Jamie's gallant gents.

Romeo
Need A Soul Mate? Now Don't You Fret
Here's The Romeo To Your Juliet!

There is very little in this world that I do not like, but being in a pound cage for weeks and weeks was one thing that I had no fondness for. But of course the alternative to the cage was worse and that's what I faced when my time there had run out. But before my life was taken from me, CARE arrived and whisked me away to a foster home that I very much like. I am the large economy size love package (about 2 years old), dressed in classic dark brown and black tabby attire. Being a social fellow who enjoys the company of other cats, I wish that they would all love me. I am rooming with Silky, who sometimes will give me a hiss or two for just sniffing her nose. Girls!! I am the definition of "nice guy" who will be a lifetime loyal and devoted companion. Friends may come and go, but I'll always be by your side. I have quickly acclimated to my wonderful foster home and I don't see any reason why I wouldn't do the same with my forever family. I am easy going and just anxious to settle into a home that will provide stability and TONS of love. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to meet Helen's gentle guy.

Grayson & Smudge

Grayson

Smudge (Smudge is Adopted!)
Now Don't Procrastinate- You Should Hasten
To Meet & Adopt Sweet Smudge & Grayson

Now this is just my own little theory, but I think it's possible that when my brother Grayson and I were created my tail slipped into the dove gray paint pot that was used to color his fur. Then I wagged my tail and applied a smudge over my left eye. We are 3 months old as of 8-10 and we are quite the pair of handsome guys. I have a very winning personality, and although I am a spunky kitten full of energy and play, I am also a big time cuddler. I am a social little fellow, equally at ease with people and with other cats. I love playing with my big Uncle Simon and Grayson, the favorite game being with one of my sizable collection of balls. I am friendly, loving, and just the purrfect little gentleman. My brother Grayson is a cool guy too, although he is a bit more reserved than I am. While he too loves to play with all his toys, he also is very content to find a comfortable sunny spot from which to observe or in which to take a nap. He has velvety soft fur and graceful long legs which give him a coltish look. Like me he very much enjoys cuddling and he also gets along great with other cats. We are a sweet and fun pair who would complete your home and add much love to your life. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797. Marianne is our foster mom.

Lee
Want To See A Sweet Guy Glow With Glee?
Then Pledge Your Love To Gentleman Lee

When I was rescued from behind a local seafood restaurant I was almost down for the count. My fur was just one big mat and my mouth was in horrible shape with some teeth missing. I had to have more teeth extracted and now my foster mom and vet have me on antibiotics and hypoallergenic food to clear my mouth up once and for all. You probably are wondering how such a handsome Siamese gentleman came upon such harsh circumstances and to be honest it is just a blur to me now. I have gentle and soft blue eyes and the coloring of a chocolate point Siamese. I am an extraordinarily sweet, quiet, and mellow guy who adores being loved on and who will gently lift my paw to your hand to bring it back for more. I think that I would do best in a very quiet home. I am between 4 and 5 years old and LaNell is my foster mom. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797.

FIV Kitties

Hugo

Julio
Research Shows And You Will See
Cats Can Live Long & Happily With FIV

We are sweet, sweet boys, who unfortunately tested positive for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) when we were trapped and brought into our wonderful foster home. Just for the record, FIV kitties can live long and normal lives. It is not at all the death sentence that some people might think that it is. It also is not passed from one neutered cat to another unless fighting and a deep puncture wound take place. We are certainly not fighters- just LOVERS!
Hugo: I am around 12 pounds of tabby and white splenditude (my own word). Sociability and friendliness define me and I don't mind saying a few words to remind you that it's time to love on Hugo. I am gregarious and outgoing and am comfortable with everyone. It's an overused word, but if you had to describe me in one word it would be NICE. I am about 2 years old as of 7-25.
Julio: Solid black with downy soft medium length hair, my mom calls me a beautiful little man with lovely gold eyes. At the tender age of about a year and a half I weigh just over 7 pounds. Who knew that you could buy sugar in 7 pound packages? I am a quiet lad and somewhat reserved, but I very much enjoy being stroked and talked sweetly to. I also relish playtime with toys, especially soft, bouncing balls. Always interested in what is going on around me, I like to watch the other cats and I talk to them when they are nearby. I'm just a very gentle, sweet, and easy going boy. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797- LaNell is our foster mom.

Sweetpea
Like A Summer Thirst Quenched By Delicious Iced Tea
No Artificial Sweeteners Here- Just Genuine Sweetpea

I once had an inside home, but my family acquired a dog. I was just thrown out and was never allowed inside again. All last winter I lived outside with no shelter or affection and with the dog continually chasing me up a tree in the yard that was all I had left of my former home. I would not have survived much longer, and frankly I didn't even care to, but a kindly neighbor rescued me and I blessedly came to my CARE foster home. One vet estimated my age at 5 years, but another said 9 to 10. My poor physical condition at the time of my rescue may have contributed to the higher estimate. I can't really say how old I am, but my condition has vastly improved. What I do know is that I spend every waking moment fully living up to my name, as I am truly the SWEETEST of cats. I have an even temperament that is quiet, gentle, and very loving. I am very petite at only about 7 pounds and my coal black coat has just a few "Angel's Touches" of white on my neck. I do admit to a weakness for canned kitty food and hope that my forever home will indulge me in that. In summary, I'm a LOVE! Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and LaNell can tell you all about me.

Opie

Cory
Here They Are In All Their Glory
Loving Buddies Opie And Cory

We have become such good friends since we came to our foster home from a really horrible situation. Cats in our group of strays were being abused and killed, but blessedly we were trapped and gotten out of there. Initially we were very scared and shy and it has taken a good while in our loving foster home for us to feel safe and loved. But we have and now glory in being petted and loved on.
Opie: My name says it all. What could be more adorable than an Opie? At first, although I was the more outgoing of the two of us and would go to my foster mom purring and talking, I really did not want to be touched. I've changed and have become quite the little character, active, talkative, cute as a button, and happy as a clam. I revel in being petted and enjoy rolling over and over and rubbing against anything and everything. I'm full of life and love and my foster friend Molly and I play with each other all the time and sleep together on the bed or in the cat tree. To see my playful self, and my friend Molly, in action please click HERE. To see me and Blackjack, click HERE.
Cory: My tabby and white body is stockier than Opie's. I was the more timid of us, but now love to be handled. Opie is my best buddy and we have bonded so. We play and roughhouse like crazy cats, but then mom catches us lovingly grooming one another. We are about 1 ½ years old.

Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797- LaNell is Cory's foster mom and Opie is being fostered now by Chris.

Haley
Won't You Adopt Dear Sweet Haley?
She'll Bring You Such Joy- And Daily!

My Mom and Dad's hearts were broken at having to give me and my sister Abby up as we had been a cherished part of their lives since we were adopted from CARE as playful and carefree kittens in 2005. You see, they were getting a divorce and the work schedule for Mom and the living quarters for Dad did not permit us to live with either of them. So the best thing that they could do for us was to entrust their babies to CARE for them to find us a new home where we will be as much loved as we were with Mom and Dad. CARE has decided that we are not to be adopted together as the two of us tend to have serious sibling disagreements. May I tell you a bit about myself?
I am a velvety soft brown tabby, about 4 years old now, who is such a petite girl with enormous loving green eyes. They are so big in proportion to my face that my CARE friends think it gives me an endearing look of constantly being amazed or surprised. I was once shy with new acquaintances, but being in foster care has changed that. In fact, I was in my foster mom Jamie's lap within 10 minutes of going home with her. When her friends visit, I immediately climb into their laps too. So I have become quite the little social butterfly who just happens to adore laps and especially snuggling up with you under the covers in bed. I am very affectionate and will make my presence known with a few sweet meows if my people stray too far from my attentions. I still enjoy playtime and will bat at curled up pipe cleaners or other soft toys. Of course my absolute favorite thing is to be showered with love and attention. I can be a funny cat who is slightly klutzy and who will make you smile. In short, I am the purrfect lap buddy! My foster mom says that I get along well with other nice cats if you happen to already have a feline family. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for Helen's gem.

Kim
"With Love I'll Fill Your Heart To The Brim
Just Do Your Part And Adopt Sweet Kim!"

My approach to life was quite simple; people, yes; cats, no. I am only about 4 1/2 years old and I have had a firmly established principle that I should be the light of my person's life and that I should not ever have to share affection with another feline. I have never had as much attention as I need and deserve, but now I have become more flexible on this point. When I go to my permanent, loving home I can share the love with another nice cat, particularly if it's a boy cat. But why would you even want another cat when you can have a beautiful light brown petite tabby with big green eyes like me? I freely give head butts and it takes just a few sweet words in my ear to have me going belly up to entice a stomach rub. I am not a true lap cat, but I LOVE being with my person and specialize in helping with household chores like laundry folding. My foster mom, Janet, says that I am such a help! I was rescued from a Kill Shelter and being with my foster mom has been wonderful, but it's time for me to wrap my paws around my forever family's heart. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797.

Lindsay

Billy (Billy is Adopted!)

Joan (Joan is Adopted!)

Bridgette (Bridgette is Adopted!)
My Kids And I Are So Alike- Peas In A Pod
With Natures So Sweet- Meet The "Love Squad"

I'm young mom Lindsay and my 4 babies are almost replicas of their mom. I have more white in my soft coat than they do, but you can tell that these little acorns didn't fall far from the tree. In fact, the kids are so much alike that our foster mom had to put different colored ribbons around their necks so that she could tell who was who. We are all very good cats and, while I am biased, I have to say that they're aren't 4 nicer kittens in all of Richmond and surrounding counties. My babies are very social and friendly souls and you should see them romping and running around our bedroom, playing with everything in sight including a roll of toilet paper. They are about 8 weeks old as of July 4th. I am gentle, quiet, unassuming, very sweet, and I love my kittens more than life itself. I weigh just 4.8 pounds and am less than a year old. I am way too young to have the responsibility of 4 kittens, but I have accepted it and I think that I have raised darling kids in a very trying pound environment. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and Helen can tell you all you want to know about what's in black and white.
Update: I have become the quintessential lap cat, reveling in sitting and sitting some more on my foster mom's lap and being scratched on the head and chin. I have never been to the adoption stand because I like my foster home so much. However it is a new year and it's time for me to venture out to the stand and find a fantastic and loving forever home. My wants are modest- a freely offered lap and lots of affection will make me a very happy girl.

Sarah

Andy (Andy is Adopted!)
More Intoxicating Than A Rare Old Brandy
You'll Love This Pair- Sarah And Andy

Rescued from a local kill shelter, we are an exquisite pair of ultra affectionate, easy going, gentle, and dear little souls. We have such winning ways and are such charming baby cats that we dare any kind hearted person not to fall in love with us when we meet.
Sarah is a bit reserved, but she is a very lovable little purr machine whose motor starts when she is petted. Anytime that she is stressed she turns to her person for reassurance. She gets along well with her foster mom's own kitties.
Andy man is very outgoing and charmingly communicative, which has earned him the title of Mr. Personality. He is the coolest of kittens, high fiving his foster mom in the morning. Nothing perturbs him and he likes everyone and everything. He is super affectionate and his fondest wish is to be with his person all the time. A belly rub is one of his favorite things and when he gets one the old purr machine really revs up.
We are just 15 weeks old as of Aug. 9 and Connie is our foster mom. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797.

Pretty Girl
While This Girl's Name Certainly Is Accurate
For Her Many Charms It's Just Not Adequate

I have heard it said that I am the epitome of "tabbitudeness." I guess my silken short fur patterned with the most exotic tabby markings and the most gorgeous ringed tail this side of Rocky Raccoon have led folks to this conclusion. I am 2 years old now, as of June 13, and was born to a feral mom. As a kitten I moved from the wild side to life in a normal home, but my family cannot keep me now. I am healthy and possess impeccable house manners. While I am a tad shy at first with new acquaintances or situations, I adore being petted and receiving attention. I am a quiet lass and have an even temperament that enables me to get along well with other cats. I am just plain old good company and today especially who doesn't need a faithful companion? Oh, did I mention that I have the most soulful golden eyes? Dianne is my foster mom. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and you can meet me in my foster home.

Clyde

Cisco (FIV+)
Mom Wants To Travel- The Wide World To Roam
Our World's Collapsed- Now We Have No Home

We are C & C Kitty, Inc., and our only business is just plain loving people. At least, that's what we would be if we wanted to go to all the expense and effort of incorporating. So we will just remain amateur love bugs. Our mom has retired and now wants to travel the country, so she knows that she will not be home enough to care for us. We now must find new homes and CARE has stepped in to help. When we are adopted, it would be wonderful if we could go together to our new home, for we love one another. But if that is not possible, we are both resigned to it and will put our every effort into being the most loving and loyal companion anyone could desire. The day we leave our home will be a sad one, but life with someone who is more of a homebody would suit us very well. Please let us tell you a bit about ourselves.

I'm Clyde, a mostly white, tabby patched, and somewhat rotund sugar bear. I am just 5 years old and my absolute most favorite pastime is to be with people- I just can't stay away from them. I will trail you about the house like some dogs do, hoping for some Clyde time with my person and of course wanting to be involved with the day's activities. My litter box etiquette is perfect, but my strange stance when I potty may make you laugh. But my aim is true and I never miss. I am just the most warm hearted and devoted being under the sun and if you need such a companion to make your life complete, I'm your guy.

Hi, I'm the Cisco Kid. Well, not so much a kid anymore since I am about 8 years old, but I am Cisco. I'm a genuine bob tailed kitty- I hope that you can see my little black tipped bob in my photo. It's quite possible that the great creator of all things decided, when I was given such a short tail, to balance things out by giving me a larger loving heart. I am kind, gentle natured, and low maintenance. I am just no trouble and basically consider my reason for existence to be to dole out generous portions of Cisco love. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and Sandy can tell you all about me and Clyde. Make that call and you'll be looking for love in all the right places.

Tom (L) & Jerry

Tom

Jerry
Who Are These Guys Sweet & Purry?
Why, They're The Brothers Tom & Jerry

Unfair! Hurtful! Sorry, but that just had to be said and it's out of the way now. We are 4 year old brother cats who once lived in a family with an older dog and we all got along well with only the occasional spat, as happens in most families. But then a new dog entered our home and the big oaf displayed no respect for us and wanted to play roughly. We didn't take well to that and now instead of the canine terrorist being ostracized, it is us who must leave our home. So now CARE is looking for a great forever home, minus canines, for us where we will be esteemed for the fine cats that we are. We adore children and Jerry in particular will follow a youngster around the house like, if you will excuse the expression, a puppy dog. We are saddened at leaving our loved ones, but we can no longer coexist with that canine clown. Won't you take us in your arms and make everything right again? Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask for Helen to tell you all about us handsome guys.

Jeremy

"My Kits Are Chips Off Of The Old Block
We're Sweet & Social- The Perfect Feline Flock"

Jamie & Justin (Jamie & Justin are Adopted!)

Hi, I'm Jeremy, the very proud papa of kittens Justin and Jamie. Anyone seeing them would know immediately that they are my kids as they are miniature versions of their dad. I am between 1 and 1 ½ years old and may just be one of the most social and gregarious cats you will ever meet. I rush to greet my foster mom when she comes in the door, asking of course for her complete and undivided attention. I know my name and go to the lucky person who seeks my company. Lying on a comfortable lap and being petted is right at the very top of my favorite things in life. I have a fair amount to say about the happenings of the day and enjoy expressing my opinion to my mom about the day's events. When a lap is not available I relish romping and playing and don't mind quite a bit of activity at all . I wasn't used to being with other cats, besides my kids, but have adjusted very well to the other cats in our foster home. So if you are looking for a young, gentle, and extremely affectionate life's companion, I'm your man. Now, may I tell you about my beautiful children?
Jamie and Justin are 4 ½ month old kittens (as of 5-25) who are my mirror images. They also possess my sweet and social personality and scamper to our foster mom to be picked up and placed in her lap. Justin in particular loves to lie in her arms, gazing up lovingly into her eyes. He has such intelligent eyes and his large ears give him just the most endearing look. Jamie is a live wire who is full speed at all times and she especially enjoys wrestling with her brother and having them chase each other from room to room. Sometimes I think that the stripe that runs down her nose is a racing stripe. Both of them prefer to be where the action and their people are, and they enjoy the company of other cats and kittens. For the purrfect feline family, please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797. LaNell is my foster mom and Chris is fostering my kids.

Mallory (L) and Summer

Since Their Rescue How Strong Is Their Bond
Meet Them & With Your Heart They'll Abscond

Hi, I'm Mallory and I was recently saved from death in a local pound. Although I am only about a year old, I was pregnant when I came to the pound. The folks at the "shelter" called CARE to see if they could come for me, as I was just too sweet to be put down. I am ultra gentle, calm, and loving. I will carry on a quiet conversation with you and revel in playing with my feather wand toy. My foster mom says that I am very special. Speaking of special, a special bond has developed in my foster home between me and Summer. Summer is younger than I am, about 8 months old, and my foster mom says that I treat this little calico like she was my own baby. When she was trapped at an Exxon station she was pregnant too, in spite of her tender age. She is getting braver every day, but she is still shy with a new acquaintance. Once you pick her up and place her in your lap, she is fine and very soft and gentle. Because of our very strong and loving bond, our foster mom has decided that we must be adopted together- and that makes us both so happy! Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask Sandy to arrange our meeting.

There's No Greater Joy Than A Sweet Orange Kitty
CARE Presents Cheryl,Hannah,And Smitty
(from right to left)

Smitty

Hannah

Smitty AND Hannah- All Smiles With Each Other

Cheryl (Cheryl is Adopted!)

Hi, my name is Smitty (about 10 months old as of 4-20) and I have been elected spokes cat for the 3 of us. I am used to having lots of cat friends and I particularly would love to be with Hannah or Cheryl, my good friends from my previous life. I have short fur but, as with most orange cats, it is glorious, very thick and soft as powdered sugar. Speaking of sugar, that's what I am. Now my girls will tell you about themselves.

My name is Cheryl (age 10 months to 1 year as of 4-22) and I may just have the softest fur you have ever touched. My color is unique; a light orange that borders on being buff and it is almost solid with very few tabby stripes. I have beautiful eyes and when I gaze lovingly up at you, it will be awfully hard for you not to melt. My foster mom says that I seem to be looking into her soul. I am a love bug who is attracted to a lap like a fat man to an all you can eat buffet. I am very petite and trim, and even though a couple of pounds wouldn't hurt me, at present I'm more interested in being loved on than eating. Do you know how rare true friends are in this life? Well, if you adopt me you will have just that and you will wonder how you ever managed before we became family. If you will share your heart with me, I'll move right in and never leave.

Hey there, I'm Hannah, one beautiful and petite orange and white girl. I'm only about a year old, so we will have many, many years to share with one another.

Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and Helen can tell you all about her foster babies.

Frankie
"My Head Was Torn & I Was Wracked With Pain
But CARE Soothed Me Like A Warm Spring Rain"

When CARE rescued me from the life of an unwanted and unloved stray, I had a gaping wound on the back of my head that stretched from ear to ear. The horrible wound was evidence of how severe a case of ear mites I had. You see, I had opened the laceration myself, vainly trying to ease my misery by constant scratching. The wound had to be sutured closed and my pus filled ear was treated with antibiotics. I can't tell you the relief I experienced once I got medications for my ears, and now I am in great shape once again. I am such a sweet natured fellow that even when I was being treated at the vet's I was even tempered and gentle- so much so that the veterinary staff fell in love with me. I am about 4 or 5 years old and am about 17 pounds of big, loving lug. I tend to take things as they come, and even mastered my first experience at the adoption stand without getting stressed out. I love to play (the feather wand being a special favorite) and am a skilled conversationalist too, especially at meal time. I would be fine with other nice cats and quite possibly a dog too. I have benefited in my foster home from eating a high fiber diet, something that is good for people too, and should continue to eat that formula. My foster mom can tell you all about that. If you are looking for a congenial and affable friend for life, I'm your man. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for LaNell's sweet lug boy.

Patches

Such Boundless Love In A Sweet Li'l Tabby
Well Here She Is & That Ain't Too Shabby!

My name is Patches and I am approximately 19 months old as of April 15th! I am a former mommy cat; you may have seen my kittens (Fi, Fy, Fo & Fum) on this site. However, they have all been adopted and my foster mum tells me it is time to find my own loving companion! I am petite in size although I have fattened up a bit since being "spayed" and I love other cats, more specifically I adore my foster mom's kitty - Mr. 3-Spot. He spends a lot of time with me and he has an important role as the official assistant to CARE "foster" cats in my foster home! He was a real help when my four babies were running about and he also taught me how to be relaxed and laid back! We are spoiled with lots of yummy treats (Whisker Temptations are the best), and we often share a can of Fancy Feast! I may be small in size, but I have a big heart and am eager to share myself with you in a forever home! I will probably be shy at first, but before you know it, I will blossom into a real snuggle girl, and I will be forever grateful if you adopt me! Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and let them know you wish to meet Donna's precious Patches!

Chestnut

Saved From Circumstances Perilous & Dire
Winters Hence He'll Bask Before An Open Fire

I was an unofficial resident of a nursing home, where there were soft hearted seniors who fed me and kept me from starving. But sadly they passed on and a call was placed to CARE to capture me and have me neutered and my medicals brought up to date. After this was done, the director there decided that I was not welcome to come back and I had to go elsewhere, except that there really was no "elsewhere" for me to go to. I admit that all this left me in an angry state and I was not very nice to my foster mom at first. But then I realized that she wanted only the best for me and we learned soon enough after my epiphany that we could trust one another. I am now such a love that she would give anything to make me part of her feline family. But she has many of her own, and foster kitties too, and must allow me to move on to a loving, forever family of my very own. I have tons of personality and have become a veritable love machine and avid seeker of affection. Every time she walks by me, I talk to her and reach out to touch her with a soft paw- I would never use my claws. I worship being cuddled, but being only a couple of years old, I can play hard and rough- with my toys of course. Any claw usage is confined to my toys, thank you, and never would I use them on my person. My latest show of love was to reach up to my foster mom's face to gently pat it with a soft paw, which is my way of saying, "I love you, Mom." To summarize, I am a GOOD cat and worthy of a special family, one that will appreciate all of my great qualities and cherish me for the rest of my life. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to talk with LaNell about me.

Brook

A Babbling Brook, Well That's Not Her
From Miss B. You'll Hear Just A Soothing Purr

Being unloved, unwanted, and homeless can affect different cats in different ways. I found myself in that situation and in a pound where there was a real possibility that I would perish. CARE came to my rescue and now I am in a wonderful foster home, but it is taking a little time for my confidence and trust to return. I am coming along though, to the point where I love to be held and I purr to show my appreciation for the cuddle. I get along very well with the other cats and relish playing with all the toys that we have here. Although I am about 6 months old, as of 3-15, I am so petite that I look like a 3 month old kitten. So if you are looking for a beautiful, gentle, and petite baby girl tortie to share your life, please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Janet's Brook.

Blinky

"So What If I Sometimes Blink?"
"Inconsequential Once Our Hearts Do Link"

"I left it here somewhere"

Hi, I'm Blinky, also known as Blinkers and Blinker Doodle. My journey to my CARE foster home was an odyssey. I was the runt of a litter born to a feral cat that my foster mom's aunt in Pennsylvania was feeding. I was sleeping under cars and, fearful that I was going to be run over, the aunt scooped me up and asked her niece in Virginia to find a great home for me. I am now 9 to 10 months old (as of 3-10) and when I was a younger guy I was having seizures and eye twitches. CARE got me a great vet and now my seizures are totally under control and my blinking (therefore my name) only increases when I am tired or stressed. I take ½ tablet of Phenobarbital twice a day and I haven't had a single seizure since I started to take the medicine. Lest you worry about giving me a pill twice a day, I am the easiest fellow in the world to medicate. Mom just flips me over on my back, opens my mouth, and drops the pill in, and I swallow it. I never resist the pill or attempt to spit it out. It is just old hat to me and no big deal. And the medicine is only $11 a month, which is a small price to pay for the love and devotion of such a great little guy. Other than the blinking, which is less when I am rested, and leg twitches when I sleep or am about to fall asleep, I am a normal healthy cat in every way. My person must be responsible and understand that I MUST take my medicine and I can't miss a dose. The constants that you will find in me are sweetness and gentleness, for I have not a mean bone in my body. I am great with other cats, even those that would prefer not to be around other kitties, and have a way of ending up sleeping near them. I would be good with a nice dog too. In fact, I would be happiest in a home with another kitty to share sleeping, grooming, and playing with. I am the original LOVER BOY, purring up a storm and kneading bread almost constantly. Give me a nice lap to sleep in and I am in heaven as I love being held and talked to sweetly. But I have a playful side too and delight in batting jingle balls around the living room. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 as Ashley N's sweet boy awaits you.

Loki

Loki & Foster Brother Pawsha

Elfie (Elfie is Adopted!)

Aerial View of Elfie's Exotic Markings
"We Are Gentle Souls, Elfie & Loki
Adopt Us Please, Okey Dokey?"

I'm Loki, a fine specimen of a sleek, part Siamese black kitty. I am about 8 months old as of 11-17 and now I await a loving forever home like my former cage mate in the kill shelter got. As someone with Siamese heritage should be, I am very talkative and really enjoy a nice discussion with my person. I am usually a bit reticent with new acquaintances, but once I get to know you I am very affectionate and will give gentle kisses like I do to my foster mom's face. I am very athletic, graceful, and playful, whether I am playing by myself or with my foster brothers and sisters. There are about 5 of us who play tag and romp about the house-what a happy troupe we are. Elfie is my bestest friend in the world and I so much would like to go to my forever home with her. The two of us would make you incomparable and loyal lifetime friends. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to ask about Connie's cuties.

Hi, I'm Elfie, about 8 months old as of 11-17, who is equal parts beauty, gentleness, and beguiling shyness. I may well have some Bengal cat in me as evidenced by my exotic and unique markings. I was a feral kitten who was terrified when I was trapped as just a wee girl. I have been with my current foster mom since I was about 3 ½ months old and I am at ease with her and the other cats in our household, but I still tend to hide when unfamiliar people come about. I am not a lap cat at present, but I am super sweet and have not a mean bone in me. I LOVE my foster brothers and sisters, but my absolute best friend is my foster brother Loki. I play chase with whoever is willing to run and play, but I can entertain myself with play too if no one else is interested. With a measure of time and patience I am going to make some lucky family a fantastic and loving companion. If it is at all possible I would love to be adopted with Loki as we are so close and dear to one another.

Tango (Tango is Adopted!)

Guy

“I just love laundry day- now where did that dryer sheet go?”
What's As Delectable & Sweet As Warm Apple Pie?
Hold The Ice Cream, For It's Tango And Guy

We were feral, or at least semi-feral kitties, before we were captured by our wonderful foster mom Barbara and converted into loving, very civilized, and just plain sweet cats. We are about 1 to 1 ½ years old, so are just youngsters ready to embark on the next phase of our lives- having our very own forever homes. Please let us tell you a little about ourselves. Hi, I'm Tango, fully grown, but just 5 pounds of spunky affection. When I first came to my foster home I had no concept of what a "room" is and went a little crazy, bouncing around the room and hanging off of the door frame. But I'm a very quick learner and 3 days later I was in my mom's lap. Instinctively I knew how to use my litter box from the very first and I have very fastidious bathroom habits. We girls tend to be very neat like that. I delight in playing, chasing bell filled and hollow bouncing balls all over the place and batting them with my tiny paws. Pursuing string pulled by my mom is great fun too. I am 10 pounds of affection in a 5 pound velvety black package. I am very curious and interested in everything going on around me.
Greetings! I am Guy, formerly known as Shy Guy. Well, that name still applies whenever I see the camera in my mom's hand, as its appearance mysteriously sends me into hiding. Thus my web photo does not show my handsome self to best advantage. Tango on the other hand is a little ham. Unlike Tango I took a longer time to come to the realization that living in polite society is a good thing. I never tried to bite or scratch, but would head to my safe place whenever someone came into my room. But mom persevered, giving me treats by hand and then scratching my head and stroking my fur. Eventually when she came in to feed us in the morning I jumped down to greet her. Now she can't sit down that I am not immediately in her lap, giving her gentle head butts, purring, and carrying on a running conversation with her. Tango and I often have conversations and she has the most delightful little trill. I twine myself around mom's feet and am such a demonstrative fellow now. I will likely always be wary of new objects and sudden movements, but once I settle into my forever home and feel secure, there will be no more loving companion than I. I am now curious and anxious to explore the rest of our foster home- Tango and I are always waiting right at the door to our foster room when mom opens it to visit with us. Oh, I forgot to mention that while chasing balls doesn't turn me on, I love romping after string. As with most cats in a new home, a safe room at first is the best course and the CARE volunteers can tell you all about that. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and Sandy can tell you all about me.

Rebecca
Hey, Over Here, It's Me Becky!
Did you know that Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is a disease that is not easily spread to other cats and that FIV kitties can live long healthy lives? It is only spread through fighting and "fooling around." Since I am a lover and not a fighter and since I have been spayed, neither of those things is a possibility. So I can live a normal life as an only cat or with a non-FIV kitty, although I prefer boy cats to girls. I am a young (1 year) calico mom who just raised 5 healthy, fat little kittens, none of whom have FIV. My markings and eyes are beautiful and so is my spirit. I relish being with my people and frequently rub against them to emphasize that they are mine. FIV is NOT a death sentence and it should in no way be a bar to my living a long life in a family that appreciates the finer things in life, namely me! Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Janet's "Mom of the Year."

Tasha
Petite As The Kittens She Loves To Mother
I am a 2 1/2 year old very petite sweet little girl. I have had a hard life to date and need lots of TLC. I need to be adopted as an ONLY cat (although I would be fine with a non-aggressive male cat) to a calm, pleasant, loving home. I do not like other female cats, but am loving and nurturing to all kittens, even though they are not my own. I am also OK with very sweet and calm dogs. Call CARE @ (804)288-9797.

Mrs. Perkins

A Pickle Fancier May Demand Gherkins
A Cat Lover Will Swoon For Mrs. Perkins
(Adopted!)

Now, as you might expect, writing verse does not come naturally to us kitties, but I thought it would be fun to take a stab at it to tell you a little about me. My foster mom Della helped me. I'm a low maintenance girl who asks for little more than a warm home and someone to love me. My age is uncertain, but it is somewhere between 5 and 7 years- quite young in the world of pampered indoor felines. Anyway, here goes.

I was abandoned and left outside.
So I cried and cried and cried,
As I was accustomed to the temps inside.
All I really want is a home somewhere,
Far away from frosty days and cold night air.
A clean litter pan and a gentle hand upon my back, my stomach, my ears, my head.
And of course a big stack of blankets for a bed.
I love people and other cats and they love me.
I also play and will help wrap gifts with glee.
My foster mom says that I am the best,
A sweetie nicer than most of the rest.
I really don't ask for much,
Just your love and a gentle touch.
Love, Mrs. Perkins
Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and Andrea can tell you all about me.

Leo

Don't Lose Him And End Up Cry'n
Leo's A Treasure- We're Not Lion
(Adopted!)

The nice lady who took my photograph said that I am one incredible kitty and it would be rude to dispute her on that. I was so regal when she took my pictures that she thinks Leo the Lion Hearted fits me perfectly. I am only 18 months old and both my looks and my easygoing and agreeable manner hint of Maine Coon ancestry. I am a total sweetheart and gentlecat. My name and handsome mane might remind you of the king of the jungle, but all I want to reign over is your heart. Despite my leonine looks I am as gentle as a lamb, equally so with children, other cats, and even kitty friendly dogs. I would love to be the furry love of your life and benevolent king of your hearth and home. Judy Z is my foster mom and Sandy is fielding calls about me.
Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797.

Bella (L) and Rusty
Some Words In Praise Of Rusty And Bella
She's A True Love And He's A Dear Fella
(Both are Adopted!)

Although our journey to CARE took us on different roads, we both ended up when we were just wee kittens at kill shelters. I'm Bella and Rusty said it was OK, as if he had any choice, for me to speak for us both. I was only 4 weeks old when I was rescued from the pound and came to my wonderful foster home where I met my dear friend Rusty. I am very gentle natured, kindly, and loving. I just revel in having a warm lap to curl up on and someone to whisper sweet nothings in my ear. Rusty is my buddy and we take great delight in cavorting and frolicking together. When playtime is over, you can probably find us nestled together in our bed. Rusty has the cutest face, just full of animation and life. His gorgeous copper eyes are large, clear, and loving. He is a warm and kindly soul and I think that you would love him as much as I do. We are both about 3 months old as of 10-20 and are accustomed to being around our foster mom's kitty friendly dogs. You couldn't find a more purrfect readymade feline family than the two of us. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to learn more about Janet's gems.

Carter (L) and Cooper
A Black & White Duo That's Beyond Super
Come On- Meet Our Carter & Mr. Cooper!
(Both are Adopted!)

There hasn't been anything this full of mirth and good feelings in black and white since Mel Brooks' classic movie, "Young Frankenstein." I'm Carter, 8 weeks old as of June 10, and my good looking co-star is my brother Cooper. We both came from a kill shelter and feel so blessed to be out of that terrifying place and comfortably ensconced in our great foster home. I'm as amiable and sociable as they come, equally at ease with gentle children and with feline friendly canines like my foster mom has. Mr. Cooper is just as genial and sweet as I am, although he tends to be a bit more reserved around new acquaintances. Our foster mom is Janet. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and you can hang with Carter and Mr. Cooper.

Bentley
"Will You Love Me Forever & Hold Me Gently?
For I'm A LOVE Kitten & My Name Is Bentley"
(Adopted!)

My name is Bentley. Don't you think that is a very prestigious name for such a little guy, especially one who was saved from a feral life at an auto dealership body shop? My rescuer worked with me and my siblings so that we became very loving and social little characters. I am ultra sweet and affectionate, but I am a kitten so I likes me romps too. I am about 12 weeks old as of 6-10 and my foster mom is Sandy. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for a lifetime of love and affection.

Woodson
"Are Any So Blind As Those Who Will Not See
The Boundless Love That Lives In Me"

"Just a little to the right, please."
(Adopted!)

I am less than a year old, but what a life it has been and here is my story. In January I was found spinning in the road as I had just been hit by a car. Blessedly, it was a vet who discovered me and she rushed me to the VRCC emergency clinic. I had suffered head trauma and a skull fracture that for all practical purposes have left me BLIND. I exhibited such bravery of spirit, combined with having such a sweet and loving nature, that the bighearted vet decided that I must be given every chance to live. And I have done so well, living in a big bedroom while I recovered from my injuries. I jump up on the big plush bed, lie in the window, and have never once missed my litter box. I am the quintessential lover boy, kneading biscuits with my paws and drooling on my person as I am made over and talked sweetly to. And oh do I love chinny scratches and belly rubs! Although I can see shadows a little bit, zeroing in on my person when I'm called can be difficult. But as soon as I place your position, I come running to greet you. I need a very special and loving home where I will be doted on and spoiled. I will need some time to get used to new surroundings, but once I do I can really get around very well. I should have only the mildest natured and friendliest of dog or cat siblings, if any, as I have neither the ability nor the nature to defend myself. I do quite well with stairs, but open staircases or balconies would be too dangerous for me. In spite of my trauma, including some post accident dental surgery, I was entirely gentle and a perfect gentleman during my time at the vet. My foster mom calls me an angel in a cat suit and says that she will be very picky about my new family. My foster family's son calls me Phoenix, and if you are familiar with the legend of the Phoenix arising anew from the ashes, you will understand why. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Shannon's wonderful Woodson.
