Boo
What Could Be Better The Whole Day Through
Than To Enjoy The Love Of A Boy Named Boo?

I am Boo the Handsome, an 11 to 12 month old sweet boy cat. My start in life was pretty rough as I was rescued while just a little kitten and then put in a cage for weeks. My rescuer meant well, but I hope NEVER to see the inside of a cage again. I am shy upon first acquaintance, but I am such a personable guy that I soon warm up and will ask for pats, scratches, and belly rubs. I have the sweetest of natures and enjoy the attention of gentle children like my foster mom's nieces. A home with a feline playmate my age would be just the thing for me and I like my foster mom's dog too. So a nice, cat friendly pooch would be fine as a brother or sister also. My hobbies include romping with a ball or toy mouse, watching kitty TV (A/K/A the birdfeeder), sleeping, and making sure that I stay in close proximity to my person. I follow my foster mom around the house to make sure that she stays out of trouble- after all that is my responsibility as little man of the house. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to ask about Kim W's foster boy.

Molly
Little Richard Got It Right
Good Golly Miss Molly!
I was on Death Row at a pound dreading the moment when the people there would reluctantly come for me to end my life. I have been a good girl for my whole year of life and did not deserve to be there, but the sad truth is that there are more homeless kitties than there are good homes for them, and the pound was filled to capacity. The very day that I was to die Helen with CARE came for me and a number of others and we were spirited off to the biggest, most comfortable home I have ever known. I hit the ground running there and was never frightened like so many, who have gone through what I have, are. It is said that many of my calico sisters have diva tendencies, but I was never hit with the diva stick. I am as nice and friendly as I am pretty and I get along fine with other kitties. I hope that you can see in my face just how sweet I am. Of course a special girl deserves a special home, and I would love for that to be with you. Please come visit and see how affectionate and loving a companion I am. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Helen's Miss Molly.

Bob
"I'm Not Snooty Nor A Snob,
Just A Regular Guy Named Bob"
The son of a feral mom I was trapped as a baby. I was scheduled to be taken to a pound, but just before that horrible fate I managed to escape. Alas, I was trapped a second time, but this time it was decided that I deserved a second chance at life. CARE agreed to take me from my capturer and I have been enjoying the good life with my foster mom Janet. I am a bit shy, but very, very gentle and you can hug me if you like. I am very active and playful and about the only thing I enjoy more than play time is food. Give me a chance to build a loving relationship with you- guess you can call me Bob the Builder. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Janet's 4 month old (as of 8-16) little man.

Charlie
Once Rescued From The Wild
Now He's One Fine Love Child

As you can see in my photo, one of my ears is tipped. That is because I was trapped from a feral colony and it was thought that I would just be released back into the colony. But I was found to be way too friendly and sweet to send back to the harsh life of a feral kitty. A fellow with my gentle ways simply deserved a chance at a normal life with a loving family. My foster mom says that I have the look of a Bombay mix cat and it's true that I am quite the handsome boy. If you had to summarize me in just a couple of words it would be "Nice Guy." At about 4 months of age that wild life is behind me now and I am looking forward to softly settling into my forever home. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Chris' sweet fella.

Rebecca
Hey, Over Here, It's Me Becky!
Did you know that Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is a disease that is not easily spread to other cats and that FIV kitties can live long healthy lives? It is only spread through fighting and "fooling around." Since I am a lover and not a fighter and since I have been spayed, neither of those things is a possibility. So I can live a normal life as an only cat or with a non-FIV kitty, although I prefer boy cats to girls. I am a young (1 year) calico mom who just raised 5 healthy, fat little kittens, none of whom have FIV. My markings and eyes are beautiful and so is my spirit. I relish being with my people and frequently rub against them to emphasize that they are mine. FIV is NOT a death sentence and it should in no way be a bar to my living a long life in a family that appreciates the finer things in life, namely me! Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Janet's "Mom of the Year."

Carter
He Can't Make You Rich Or Smarter
But A Richer Life Comes With Carter
If there was such a contest, I would win the title of "Mr. Purrsonality." I am a 4 month old boy kitten, brimming with life, affection, and curiosity. I have very dark marbleized tabby markings, which are quite striking if I do say so myself. My CARE friend was very impressed with how good I was in my photo shoot and says that I posed like a pro. I just wanted the world to see me because I know that out there is that special home where I will be pampered and cherished. I am such a friendly and soft pawed fellow- one who has never met a stranger and who will be your constant companion. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Kathryn's Mr. Carter.

Knox
It's Ft. Knox If You're Going For The Gold
It's Kitty Knox For A Friend To Have & To Hold
Where are you going to find a cat as bubbly and effervescent as an orange float? Well, you don't have to look far, for here I am. I have velvety orange tabby fur with snazzy white markings, a pink button of a nose, soulful big golden eyes, and the gentleness of a lamb. I'm only 1 year old so I am very lively and full of energy, but my biggest attributes are my friendliness and sociability. I just love being with people, hopping up into laps to snuggle and be petted, and hobnobbing with everyone. Sit down with me and prepare to receive soft head bumps and some kitty loving. I am fine with other kitties too. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Sandy's treasure.

Rupert the Magnificent
His Name Sounds Like A Magic Act
But He's Just Magical- That's A Fact
Just 8 months old as of 8-16, I was rescued from a local kill shelter. I am a classic brown tabby with a pert orange nose and BIG golden eyes that just exude verve and personality. I'm as sweet and soft as cotton candy and if you look up "gentle" in the dictionary you are likely to see my photo. I find that there is nothing better in life than to be held and petted and I'll show you how I feel with purrs and soft head bumps. I get along with all creatures and even an electron microscope would not find one molecule of meanness in me. I have so much nobility of soul and so much love to give to my people. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Sandy's magical moggy.

Nutmeg & Brett

Nutmeg

Brett
Are Any More Bewitching Than Nutmeg & Brett?
In A Word My Friend The Answer Is Nyet
Hi, I'm Brett. Nutmeg is not my sister by blood, but we are the best of friends since we are the same age (8 weeks as of 8-16) and survived together in the pound. We romp and play often and our foster mom describes us as a constant delight and source of amusement. I was in the pound for a whole month before the two of us were spirited out of there and into our CARE foster home. I have a Geiger counter purr and you'll often find me climbing up into a lap. Nutmeg is quite the player, but she is very lovable and affectionate too. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Becky's Babes.

Nellie
Know Who'll Turn Your Knees To Jelly?
It's The One And Only, Our Foxy Nellie

Nellie At Her Rescue
I was just 4 weeks old when my home in a feral cat colony, located at a TV station that shall go nameless, was bulldozed. I was blessed to have been saved by a wonderful CARE volunteer, but some of my friends and littermates weren't as fortunate. Lovingly bottle fed in my foster home, I have thrived here and now am a healthy, active, and totally spoiled little girl. I have had my fling with celebrity, having had newspaper and television coverage, and am now ready to settle down into the object of affection in a loving, doting forever family. I am 9 weeks old as of 8-11, have purrfect house manners, and am just the epitome of what a sweet kitten should be. Please come visit me in my foster home with Dianne, and be prepared to be charmed. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797.

Loki (With Linde Looking On)

Linde (Linde is Adopted!)
"We Are Gentle Guys- Linde & Loki
Adopt Us Please, Okey Dokey?"

I am Loki and I was cage mate to my buddy Linde (short for Linden) when we were incarcerated at a local pound. I am about 15 weeks old as of 8-11 and Linde is a week or two younger. In addition to my velvety soft black fur, you will find in me a very gentle and a bit shy nature. I am super sweet, give head bumps generously, play with great enthusiasm, and socialize well with other kitties. My tabby friend Linde is also a bit shy- maybe that's one reason that we get along so well. He also is extremely affectionate, gentle, and playful- and he likes other cats too. Separately or together, if you are looking for a soft, gentle natured companion, here we are. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Connie's great guys.

Martina
As Sweet & Delectable As An Apple Pie
She's Waiting To Be Apple Of Your Eye
If you will permit me a moment of immodesty, I am as pretty as the country singer who bears the same name as I do. Sporting medium length fur, a pert orange nose, soft white mittens, and a spiffy snowy vest, I am a girl dressed for success- and much love. When the occasion calls for it I will converse with you and my repertoire includes the cutest little chirps. Only 3 years old, I was rescued from a pound where I would have perished but for my rescue by CARE. My personality is laid back and as sweet as pecan pie. I have heard mention that I might have some Maine Coon ancestry, but I think that I'm just a "Sweet Virginia Breeze." Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Kathryn's fluffy muffin.

Collin
"I Am So Ready To Open A New Chapter In My Life- With You!!"
It's here in black and white that I'm the guy for you. There is some disagreement as to my age, ranging from 7 months to a year, but what there is no disagreement on is that I am a very social, playful, and outgoing boy. In fact I was a star on Channel 6's Paws for Pets segment and everyone said that I was the best cat ever to appear on the show. When my CARE volunteer friends sat in the adoption center with me I pounced into one lap and then the other, all the while giving head bumps and rubbing on my people. When you pet me I arch my back in sheer pleasure. I am fine with other nice kitties, but people are my main emphasis. I am the type of cat who has never met a stranger. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Sandy's Collin O'Cat.

Quinn

What's Better Than Drawing To A Royal Flush?
Why It's Having Your Own Orange Crush

I am a manly marmalade guy, about 1 year old as of 8-9. I emphasize manly since my soft as a bunny fur might give you the impression that I am a sissy boy. I was rescued from a kill shelter and now am awaiting visitors in the CARE adoption center. Now I admit that I am not wild about being in a cage at the center and other cats tend to put me in a less than great mood, but this sure beats the alternative in the pound. Get me out of that old cage and socialize with me in the adoption center and I immediately crawl into your lap. The consensus is that once I am placed into a loving normal home environment, I am going to be one fine feline friend. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Sandy's Sir.

Fifi
"Not Wild About My Name- Sounds Like A Poodle
But In The Feline World I'm The Whole Caboodle"
I feel like the luckiest cat on this planet- I think that I just won the lottery! You see I was in a hard, steel cage at the pound for over a month. I vacillated between absolute boredom, and total panic at the thought that my day to die was soon to arrive. Sometimes I even thought that it would be a relief to get it over with. Then I was scheduled to be put down on a Tuesday afternoon. But the cavalry rode to my rescue in the form of a CARE volunteer who selected me to go home with her. I would smile all the time, but as one of my fangs (called canine teeth- isn't that an odd name?) is gone and another is partially gone I am a little sensitive about that. However, my teeth cause me no other problems at all and I am quite young at only about 2 years. I am a total love machine, quiet of nature, and very gentle. I am easily spooked at first in a new situation, but as soon as I feel comfortable and safe you will never find a more faithful and loyal companion. I have large, limpid eyes that just radiate kindness and the ticking in my fur has an Abyssinian look. My best friend here in my foster home is Melanie, a longer haired stunning tabby girl. She was to die the same day as me so we have that bond between us. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Helen's sweet Fifi.

Melanie
Now Don't You Be Shy Or Coy
For You Can Make Her Dance For Joy
I am a medium haired fluffy muffin of a girl, and my handsome new CARE vet says that I am about 6 to 7 months old. I was rescued the very day I was to be killed at the pound and that experience has taught me to be a bit cautious. Anything new can frighten me a little, but give me a few minutes and the fear disappears. I think that it is prudent to think things over before you plunge headlong into something you are not familiar with, don't you? I absolutely love other cats, especially my friend Fifi, and people too. Although my fur is not overly long, mom says that I still have a Maine Coon look about me. For a very loving, and stylish, friend for life, please come and meet me. I cannot wait to have my forever home with my very own family. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Helen's lovely Melanie.

Tubs

Birdie
Head Bumps, Purrs, And Tummy Rubs
Get All This And More With Birdie & Tubs

About 9 weeks old as of 8-2, we are brother and sister who were abandoned in a box at the door of a rural veterinary clinic. CARE agreed to take us in and so here we are with our wonderful foster mom Melanie. You will not find two more personable or sweeter babies. We have gotten a lot of loving attention in our foster home and so just revel in a kind human touch, responding with purrs and gentle head butts. Our bright little eyes take in everything around us and even the most expensive toys don't make us any happier than romping with and chasing paper balls. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to ask about Melanie's perfect little cat family.

Burt
Who's That In The Striped Tabby Shirt?
Why It's That Lover Boy, Handsome Burt!
I am just a young lad, a plush, exotically striped tabby cat just 15 months old as of 8-8. I will be a bit hesitant and shy as I learn to trust you, but oh boy, once I do you will have the most loyal of companions. To paraphrase that famous line from the movie "Casablanca," "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." I am great with other cats, and dogs too. In fact my very best friend in the whole world is my foster mom Janet's big old cat Geoffrey. She often finds us curled up together sleeping- he is sort of my security blanket I guess. My CARE admirer says that if you look up "gentle" in the dictionary you will find my picture. I love being petted and caressed and my purr motor will rev up to show you how much I am enjoying it. Since I am still just a big kitten, I am playful too, but the main thing you will notice about me once I have settled in to my new home is that I love attention. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to ask about Janet's baby boy.

Adele

Rosa
Who Can Resist A Southern Belle
As Sweet & Beautiful As Rosa & Adele?

I am Adele and one day our family just up and turned me and my sister Rosa into a kill shelter simply because they had grown tired of the responsibility of caring for us. They apparently totally discounted all the love that we had freely given to them. But that's OK, since our life with them was no bed of roses anyway. But as the hours ticked by and our appointment with the grim reaper grew closer we had just about given up all hope. Then on the very Tuesday morning that we were to be killed CARE arrived and spirited us out of there and to our foster home. We are both very sweet teenagers, only about 6 to 7 months old. Although hardly more than a kitten, I was already expecting when our irresponsible family left us to die at the pound. I was spayed and now both of us are ready to go. We have medium length hair and, after only a week to feel secure and comfortable in our foster home, our true extremely affectionate selves have surfaced. We are lovers and possess fine purring engines. Rosa has beautiful calico markings and her fur is a bit longer than mine. She has the cutest orange spot on her pert black nose. We will be superlative companions for our people. And we will never forget CARE for saving our lives. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and to ask about Helen's girls.

Spatters (Adopted!)

Batcat (kitten)

Tarragon (Adopted!)
As Companions They Are The Paragon
Yes, It's Spatters, Batcat, and Tarragon

We are 3 of the kittens that a CARE volunteer trapped from a feral cat colony. Our caregiver was moving and there would have been nobody there to feed and look out for us. Being in polite society was difficult at first, but with the loving attention of our foster mom Chris we have come to the conclusion that having a home and people is a good thing and is so much better than the brutal, harsh, and short life of a feral cat. We'd each like to tell you a bit about ourselves. I am Spatters, a dapper 4 ½ month old fellow, who has discovered that I absolutely love to be petted and along with that my purr engine has started to rev up. I am very vocal with my roommates. I like to be cradled in your arms like a baby and my favorite pastimes are observing my people and having a blast romping and playing with my friends. I am Batcat- there must be a movie in town that gave mom the idea for my name. Solid black, except for an "Angel's Touch" of white on my neck, I am very, very friendly and sociable and being petted is such a fine thing to me. I have a very long tail and as I constantly run about it stretches out behind me in the slipstream. I am on the small side at 3 ½ months old and look forward to a home where I will have ample amounts of food and love to put some heft on me and to warm my sweet little heart. I am Tarragon. Don't you think that is a unique and fitting name for such a handsome long-haired gray tabby fellow sporting very stylish white highlights? My favorite things include being petted, to which I purr and arch my back in pure pleasure, and giving kisses. I was a bit slower to come out and join the kitten high jinks, but now I race and romp with my kitten buddies. The only thing exceeding my good looks is my gentleness. I had a tough start in life, but I am a genteel guy who now has discovered the good life at the tender age of 3 1/2 months. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and our foster mom Chris can tell you all about us.

Goji

Goji Berry

Goji Furry
The Goji berry is a very healthful bright red berry. Since I have a similar hue and bring many benefits myself, my foster mom decided to name me Goji. I am a deep orange tabby and the light in my beautiful copper colored eyes and gentle disposition will bring you to one inescapable conclusion, and it's that you must have me in your life forever. Only 2 to 3 years old, I was rescued from a kill shelter. I am very playful, with the fishing pole toy being perhaps my favorite, and am very vocal. In fact, I very much enjoy a nice conversation with my person since I have a wide ranging interest in the issues of the day, such as "Will I get a treat now?" To encourage goodies I will rear up on my hind legs, place my front feet gently on you, and take treats from your hand. I revel in being with my person and being petted, but am willing to share your love with other nice kitties. Most orange tabbies, especially boys, are great cats and I think I can say with only a bit of immodesty that I am right there at the top of the class. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to ask about Jamie's handsome fellow.

KITTENS!

CARE Presents: Beezy Busy, Matt Mellow, Dudley Delightful, Belle Beneficent, and Phoebe Fabulous
Starring In A Remake Of That Classic Sci-Fi Thriller "Monochrome Munchkins Make Mars Merry"

Beezy

Matt (Adopted!)

Dudley (Adopted!)

Belle

Phoebe (Adopted!)

I am Beezy and since our foster mom calls me "Leader of the Band" may I tell you a little about me and my brothers and sisters? We are about 12 weeks old as of 7-26 and have been living with our foster mom Andrea while we recovered from some minor but pesky illnesses. We came from harsh circumstances, but our mom has spent many hours with us to ensure that we became the sweet, well adjusted kittens that we are today. We are 100% OK now and ready to ensnare your heart with our kitten charms. As I mentioned, I am the first one of our troupe to get into mischief, am very playful, and find great joy in sitting in a lap to be scratched and petted.
While Matt will play hard too, he is very laid back and mom calls him "The Observer." He will sit and watch and you can almost see the wheels turning as he mulls things over. He too loves a nice lap and some loving.
Dudley is a lover boy and when he is not wresting with us, he can be found claiming a lap. He is extremely affectionate and once he graces a lap, he is going to be there for a while.
Belle has sweet white "Angel's Touch" patches on her chest and tummy. She is extremely people friendly and her motto is "Play, Play, Play!"
Phoebe is the only one of us who is not black, as her fur is a soft, velvety gray. Very affectionate and aficionado of toy mice are two phrases with which to describe her. She is a charmer. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to claim one, or better yet, two of us for your very own.

Natalie
Never One To Be Mean Or Catty
Refined And Gentle Define Our Natty

Natalie and Tess
I became a mom at a very young age and you can see my kitten, Tessa, on this page. We were rescued by CARE from a pound where we would have been killed. I have vowed that I will repay that kindness many, many times over once I have settled into my forever family. I am a "people cat"; very sweet, friendly, talkative, and nice with other cats too. I want to be with my person, snuggling, being in your lap, or maybe even begging for just a taste of what you are eating or a treat. I am not one of those aloof girls. I was on my own for a while and now I am intent on spending quality time with my people. I am still only about 1 year old, very sleek of build, and having medium length gray hair with neat white markings. My aquamarine eyes are enormous windows into my gentle soul. Tessa and I don't have to be adopted together, but it would be beyond wonderful if we could be. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to learn how we can be yours. Our foster mom is Vittoria.

Stella
Once From The Wrong Side Of The Tracks,
Now She's Ready To Be Your Uptown Girl
I was quite literally picked up right off the railroad tracks, in February of this year. My present caregiver found me there when she came to check on the feral cat colony with which I had taken up residence. She scooped me right up and put me in a carrier and hauled me off to the vet clinic, where it was discovered I had already been spayed. Yep, I am one of those many who once had a home and then was no longer wanted. It is a shame. My foster mom has given me the name Stella as those railroad tracks ran right by Richmond Steel. I am young (only 3-4 years old), a good girl, and a strikingly gorgeous black and white beauty! My face is black, my whiskers white, my coat is plush, a pure delight....why, I am a poet too!! And you should hear my voice! It is sweet and distinct, pure and so loving. I have a gentleness about me and my mom thinks it is cute the way I tenderly reach out with my right paw to touch her and remind her that it is time for some Stella attention. From a life on the tracks... to a life in a lap of luxury, that is all I am hoping for. So please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and my foster mom Lanell can tell you all about me.
P.S. Due to my past experiences on the street, I am not able to live comfortably with dogs, but other nice kitties are no problem.

Pepper

To Paraphrase the Dr. Pepper Lyrics,
"Wouldn't You Like To Have A Pepper Too?"

Don't I look way too young to have raised a litter of kittens? It is true though and although I am only 1 ½ years old my petite size makes me look like just a larger kitten. I am very sweet and a connoisseur of fine laps. I am also a rubber and head butter and will weave between your legs, pressing against you to show my affection and to encourage a kind word and soft caress. I am OK with other cats and just a fine all around lady cat. No more kittens for me- just a loving forever home where I will be an integral part of the family. So if you want a girl with a sunny nature for your loving companion, call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to ask about Janet's sweet Pepper.

Beverly (L) and Belinda (Belinda is Adopted!)

A B&B: Nice Place To Stay
Our B&B: Will Always Make Your Day

We sisters were discovered nestled in a box of grass clippings when we were but 2 ½ weeks old. We would have perished, but CARE rode to the rescue and our foster mom Kathryn bottle fed us, every 2-3 hours around the clock in the beginning of our stay with her. As you might imagine of bottle fed babies, we are very affectionate and people oriented. Well adjusted and very trusting little girls who are 12 weeks old as of 7-12, we are best pals who sleep and play together. It would be just so wonderful if we could go to our forever family together. We are the perfect little cat family, healthy, happy, and raring to go. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to ask about Kathryn's wee lasses.

Willow
Soft Kisses On A Summer's Day
Laughing All Our Cares Away Just You And I
Chad & Jeremy- "Willow Weep For Me"

What do you call a gorgeous petite 1 year old silver tabby girl sporting white socks, enormous and soulful gold eyes, a pert orange nose, and the most exotic stripes this side of a zebra? It's WILLOW! I have a stocky build and with my wide face and really large eyes, you might just take me for a British Short Hair kitty. My last residence was in a warehouse where only the kindness of a lady who fed me kept me from death's door. I am gentle to the core, although I will probably be a bit reticent and shy at first meeting. Don't let my hesitation fool you, for I am a darling and affectionate miss who just needs a loving, secure home to blossom. True to my soft ways, I am good with other cats too. May I tell you a little secret? I have such a crush on O.C., a big, handsome white furred fellow who appears on this page also. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to ask about Sandy's love muffin- and maybe O.C. too?

Ellie Mae

What Say You, Sweet Ellie Mae?
"I Want A Home- Let Us Pray!"

I am a lovely 2 year old longer haired orange tabby girl with white accents rescued by CARE from a kill shelter. My half an orange mustache is just the cutest thing if I do say so myself. If there was a contest for the ULTIMATE LAP CAT, I would win it going away. I am very loving and prove it by tucking my chin and rolling over while batting my beautiful eyes flirtatiously. Since I have such thick, lustrous hair it is a good thing that I love to be brushed. A girl has to look her best you know. Even though I am blessed with great beauty, I have just enough insecurity in me that I don't especially enjoy competing with other felines for my person's attention and adoration. So it would probably be best for me to be an only child. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to find out everything you want to know about Sandy's sweet muffin.

Smoke

You'll Exclaim When You Visit Smoke
"I've Never Met A More Charming Bloke!"

I am a little pathetic looking at the moment, but I do not feel that way at all! I was in a person's custody who was arrested for cruelty to animals. The animal protection lady took all of the animals there away and took us to a pound. I had spent my entire 6 years of life in a small cage, never being allowed out. Talk about inhumane and callous treatment! I was so badly matted that the only thing that could be done to restore me to my former handsome self was for me to be given a lion cut. Now there are bad haircuts and there are bad haircuts, and this is one BAD "do." I also had a visit to the vet where a dental cleaning and something called neutering have me in A-1 shape and ready to go to my forever home. I get giddy thinking about having a loving home where I will have an entire house to explore and lounge about in. In spite of my past circumstances, I am litter box trained. Some guys might have been embittered by an experience like mine, but not me. I am just so grateful to have plenty of food, lots of toys, and AIR CONDITIONING- my foster home is heaven to me. I am great with other cats and my foster mom Helen says I am absolutely, positively full of PURRSONALITY! By the way, even though I am a fully grown boy, I am petite and weigh in at a little less than 5 pounds. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to ask about Helen's Lion King.

Barbara Ann (A/K/A Jolie)- Loving Mom

Sissy (Adopted!)

Cowboy (Adopted!)

Mugsy (Adopted!)

Buster (Adopted!)

Hi, I'm Sissy and I have been appointed by my mom and brothers to be the spoke scat for us. Well OK, I wasn't appointed- I told them I was going to take care of this for them. We kittens are about 8 weeks old as of 6-8 and were born in the home of our first foster mom Dianne. She was so concerned about our wellbeing and stayed up all night long to assist with our births. I am an adorable calico girl with the most precious, and unusual, black nose. I am always the first to do everything. I was the first to climb the cat condo and the first to climb the screen door that keeps us separated from our foster mom Chris's other cats. Cowboy, with his black & white cow markings, is very sweet, likes to be held, and follows Chris around. He's very curious and likes to play, particularly with a feathered wand, which he hangs onto for dear life, all the while growling while he tries to hide it. He was the first to use the litter box and to eat kitten chow.
Mugsy, the black faced kitten, is full of life and likes to be around people. He plays a lot with his brothers and me and loves to chow down on his wet food. He loves to arch his little back and prance sideways towards Chris.
Buster, the black & white faced kitten, is a handful. He's always rough housing with us and he's always too busy to eat, although he keeps up with us in weight. He's very photogenic and loves to pose for the camera.
Our mom Barbara Ann, who Chris lovingly calls Jolie, was such a great mom to us, keeping a constant watch over her babies. She is such a very sweet cat and loves affection. She adores lying on Chris's lap and tapping her chin with gentle head butts. She is a conversationalist and in addition to her vocal skills she gets along well with other cats and dogs. Only about 4 years old, she will make someone a wonderful lifelong companion as her greatest delight in life is being with her person. Look up "gentle" in the dictionary and you just might see her picture. She is so cute, sweet, talkative, playful, and loving. She will bat balls around our foster mom's kitchen floor for long periods, but she ALWAYS wants to be with her person. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to ask about Chris's sweet momma cat.

Juno (Adopted!)

We are Connie's foster babies, 8 ½ weeks old as of 5-31. Born as strays, she has nurtured and accustomed us to the world of humans. We are some of the prettiest kittens you will ever meet. We are playful and inquisitive just as most all kittens are, but being rescued from homelessness has given us a special appreciation for the good life. Now all we need are special people to make all of us cherished and valued members of their families. What wonderful lifelong companions we will be! Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to ask about Connie's sweethearts.

A Modern Day Eliza Doolittle
Ready To Be Your Fair Lady

See that tail held high in my photo? Well that's me in a nutshell- perky and vivacious. I am a young lady cat, a year old or less, who was living on the mean streets of town. I had just birthed a kitten and had no idea how I and my baby were going to survive, when a nice lady caught me and took me to Shady Grove Vet to make sure that I was medically OK. She was able to adopt my kitten, but could not keep me also. Now the plan was to spay me and then return me to live out my days as a feral kitty. But this foxy girl outfoxed them. I am so sweet and loving that the vets were amazed. I purred while I got all my vaccinations and even right after my spay surgery. So a girl originally thought to be suited only to the street life won everyone's hearts and the wonderful people at Shady Grove said that they would find me my true home. CARE has taken me into their system and I see only good days ahead. I am a purring, head butting wonderment. Upon first meeting you I beg for chinny scratches and eagerly let you know that I'm the girl for you. At least at this point in my life, I don't find other cats very appealing, but that could change as I settle into the comfortable life of a kept kitty. In fact, in my foster home I have been getting along with the boy cats- the girls not so much. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to ask about Shannon's fair feline- ME!

Katrina's Victims Still Need Your Help
So Come Meet Our Plucky Girl!
I am a Katrina rescue kitty, found on the streets of New Orleans when I was only 4 months old. That was in September of 2005 when a CARE volunteer, who was there helping to rescue homeless animals, selected me as one of the special kitties that he brought back with him to Richmond. And a very special kitty I am indeed. I am both smart and beautiful and I am a rare breed too, a Torbi (part tortoiseshell and part tabby) with a rich blend of deep and striking colors in my coat. Besides the safehouse where I have lived with my rescuer and his wife, I have lived in 2 other homes in the Richmond area. The first one was for 6 weeks, after which time I was returned because their other cat did not like me...it was not my fault, that other cat was just a snob! I was in my second home for 1 1/2 years and I thought it would be my forever home. My mom and dad there were from New Orleans and they were so excited to have me as part of their family. That is, until their human baby arrived and I was no longer welcome, which was not my fault either. I was very sad and angry but my safehouse family welcomed me back. At first I was not happy with the arrangement as they now have several cats and a dog but I have adjusted. They love me and only want what is best for me, and I love them too. I show them daily with lots of head butts and kisses, for I have lots of love to give! And they are determined that my next home will be a permanent and caring one where, allow me to expound on this, I WILL GET ALL THE ATTENTION AND ADORATION THAT I SO DESERVE! Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to arrange to meet Lanell's sweet pastry from the Big Easy.

To The O.C
I am a solid white fellow, big and sturdily built, but plush and soft like a feline polar bear. Recently my people decided to move and that was fine with me as I knew that I could adjust to a new home. But then they dumped me at a kill shelter and my whole world collapsed on me. That would have been difficult for any cat, but I am 8 years old and that was the only home I have ever known. I am so grateful that CARE stepped in and rescued me from the hard, cold cage of the pound. I had a urinary tract infection that CARE has gotten all cleared up and I have had my first dental cleaning too. So I am in A-1 shape and ready to go. I am a big old teddy bear, docile and laidback. A warm lap is the place where I most like to be- I curl up, tuck my chin in, and prepare for a nice session of being petted and napping. I even get along well with other cats. If you are looking for a very gentle soul to share your life, I'm your man. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797- Sandy can tell you all about me.

Mustafa (L), Max, and Hamlet (Max & Hamlet are Adopted!)
No Other Investment Will Pay Such A Huge Dividend Of LOVE- Over And Over Again!!
I am Max and my brothers have elected me spokescat for the three of us. We are wee lads, just 13 weeks old as of 4-12, currently seeking fulltime employment as the loves of your life. My foster mom calls me "the parrot" because of my love for sitting on a shoulder. I have slightly lighter brown tabby colors than Hamlet and Mustafa is a gray tabby boy. I relish being cuddled and mom says that I am the most outgoing of her guys.
Hamlet, a prince of a guy in his own right, revels in being petted, but is a work in progress as far as being held is concerned. He is a very companionable fellow and likes to be with his people. He was the runt of our litter and at one time there was doubt as to whether he would make it, but he did and he is as robust a kitten as you will meet.
Mustafa was named after feline royalty in "The Lion King." And royal he is too! He is playful, as we all are, and also loves to cuddle and give and receive affection. I must tell you that he is a bit of a tease though. He claims a toy as his own, but then he shows it to us. When we decide that we want it, he takes it back and tells us, "It's mine!"
You will not find a nicer, more well adjusted trio of tabbies than we are. Let's spend our lives together- you have only to adopt us for that wish to come true. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to ask about Sandy's guys.
